I know this is a very newbish question but it seems most everyone shoots 145-149 grain.

I think I read where improper weight bullet can lead to excess copper fouling or something not good for the barrel. Something to do with how the bullet spins in the barrel and if you have improper weight for the twist or something it may not be good for the barrel.

I know it will shoot it, but will I damage the barrel or cause excess wear?

I have some 168 grain PPU match ammo that I want to compare against the 145 grain PPU ammo at 300 yards to see if my groups are any different.

No, do not ever shoot 168gr match ammo through a SCAR. Do a quick search and find all the threads advising owners to avoid PPU at all costs.
