Is this that dreaded magazine release/sticking magazine problem?

And I took video this time!

Synopsis:
Is this the dreaded magazine problem that some FNX-45 owners complained about?
The magazines only drop free IF you fully release the button AFTER initially actuating the button.

Occasionally it won’t drop free after doing the above maneuver either. This is especially worse when using the right side of the release. I either have to physically strip the magazine from the gun or depress the button and snap the frame over the wrist of my support hand.
This problem is consistent and does this with a full or empty magazine. Does this with seven magazines.

Sorry for the **** camera work and dim lighting. My friend isn’t really savvy with the camera lol.

Never heard of the issue But, mag release is largely influenced by a wire spring. With the slide removed, looking forward from the rear of the gun into the top of the magwell there is a metal loop. You can push that loop up and down to make some adjustment. It retains the mag release, which you can remove if you push the spring all the way down and free.

Press and hold the release until mag is free and clear. The side of the mag is dragging on a not broken in release. I have several different rigs that have done that until broken in with a bunch of mag changes. My 509T, FNX45, LCP2, HK Mk23 and a host of other have exhibited the same thing to various degrees until properly exercised. LCP was the worst of the lot

Your's might have the older mag release and magazine followers. They have updated ones you can buy from Midwest gun works. The mag release helps, don't know about the mag followers.

What change was made to the magazine release?

Perusing the forum, it seems many have either enlarged the magazine well by sanding it internally, as well as opening up the holes where the release goes. I even saw a thread where a member mentioned his magazines were bottoming out on the sear assembly, which was remedied by removing material from the sear cage.

I don’t think Midwest will be able to get those parts to me in time for my class. I could commit to using it with the sticking/binding mags, or just use an alternative pistol. That would mean trying to find another kydex holster which is a requirement of this class.
FN redesigned it to where it does not touch the mag at all, and redesigned the mag followers as well.

Interesting. I may have to look into this.
