It's the Courts, Stupid

Larrey Anderson

In the long term, the damage done by an Obama administration and a Democrat controlled congress would not be economic. It will be constitutional damage, judicial damage, moral damage.

America faces a future federal judiciary packed with lawyers bent on making the Constitution "a living document." (Which means that the Constitution says whatever they damn well please.)

Here are just four areas of concern:

(1) Right to Life. Obama touts the most radical pro-abortion record of any major politician. His position is so extreme that is can be rightfully called pro-euthanasia. Obama will appoint like minded Supreme Court justices.

(2) Property Rights. When Obama speaks about spreading the wealth, rest assured that it is not just the money in your pocket he is after. The Supreme Court is teetering on the edge of taking the "private" out of private property. One or two more far left Supreme Court justices and "private property" will no longer be a meaningful constitutional right.

(3) The Second Amendment. The individual right to keep and bear arms was barely preserved in a recent Supreme Court decision by a 5 to 4 vote. Gun owners will not be so lucky if Obama is elected and picks, as some predict, as many as four new Supreme Court justices.

(4) Freedom of Speech. Let's just look at one example. Here is Obama's position on the "Fairness Doctrine:"

Sen. Obama does not support reimposing the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters. He considers this debate to be a distraction from the conversation we should be having about opening up the airwaves and modern communications to as many diverse viewpoints as possible. That is why Sen. Obama supports media-ownership caps, network neutrality, public broadcasting, as well as increasing minority ownership of broadcasting and print outlets.

Read it carefully. Obama does not want to reimpose the "Fairness Doctrine" ... he wants to redistribute the ownership of the media! A left leaning Supreme Court will not bar his way.

Depending on which justice retires first, a single Obama appointment would give us a Supreme Court that supports each of these four positions.

If Obama is elected the rights to life, property, free expression, and gun ownership will disappear in our new "living" Constitution. America can work its way out of a depression. We may not be able to recapture these basic freedoms.

Freedom in the United States has long since left these shores many many years ago. I would classify 99% of US citizens as Indentured servants in one form or another. We have very few true freedoms anymore. Freedom to life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness-gone. Freedom of speech-gone. Freedom of religeon-only if it conforms to the party in power. Freedom to defend yourself-almost gone and in some places already gone. Freedom to not be spied on by our governments- gone. Freedom from taxation without representation-gone.

Assumed Freedoms that require you to pay for them are not freedoms, they'er consumables. Inalienable rights do not require a court ruling to confer them to be such.
If you have to ask permission to do something that is suppose to be your right, then that is not truely your right to start with.

So what freedoms do we truely have?
