i was considering buying a FNX .45 T and decided to bid on one on Gunbroker...i didnt bid very high and i WON!....got a great deal

now im selling my .45 Colt Goldcup to pay for it

one of the things thats interesting me is a red dot sight.....ive got Eotech on my M4 and dont really like it......i have a leopold red dot on my Steyr Aug and love it

Im considering a Trijicon LED model.......will it be very similar to the Eotech on a rifle?(where you have to look through it, not at it)

my primary use for the gun is target shooting at 25/50 yards at steel silhouette targets.....do the sights have to be lined up perfect to see the dot? if so how is it faster than using your iron sights??......if you were going to be carrying this gun some day and had to use it how is the red dot any advantage?? you wouldnt leave it ON while in your holster.....and if its a bad world type situation id have my M4 on me anyways with the FNX as a backup........just curious what the purpose is for it besides home defense where you may have time to pull the gun, turn the thing on, etc....

ill probably get it anyways just because id love to try it....just curious about it...

No, the dot could be out of the center of your glass and your POI will be where the dot is but will not be co-witnessed with your irons. If you take your time to center the dot you will co-witness with your irons. Yes it is faster once you get use to it.

Nah, it will feel different than the eotech on rifle. Trijicon is the only way to go. Get the RM06 or RM02 or RM01. Do not get the RM07 as the dot goes out intermittently. Just slap it on, then adjust the dot so it's sitting right on top of the front sight when you line up you irons. You'll be 95% there. Then go to the range and fine tune. easy peasy.

ps don't sweat the 3.5 or 6.5 MOA. Both are great on a pistol...you're not shooting rifle here. I like the bigger 6.5 moa dot, but I also like my 3.5moa RM06. It doesn't matter, find the best price and buy it.

I second that...OP, you sell it yet?
yes sold the goldcup today...got $850 for it w/ 3 extra clips......i lowered my price from $900 to $850 yesterday and got 7 calls immediately for it.....had an idiot from last week playing games over $25....this morning when i told him i was selling it today he suddenly said he would pay the $850 if i met him first....i said F U and told him now he gets nothing because he played games over $25....it felt good........the guy who bought it took one look at it and handed over the $$ immediately.....when you own quality it sells quick

it was a SS series 80 goldcup national match trophy

pretty much got what i paid for it, which is verrry cool

got the FNX .45 t for $901 on gun broker....after the credit card fee(3%), shipping ($35) and $65 for background check and local FFL dealer i got the new gun for around $1025 total.......

i will miss the goldcup.....all my guns are modern except for a Walther P1....i may get a 1911 again someday, but just a base model.....i never did any competition with the goldcup like i had planned....i enjoy fast target shooting and the gold cup wasnt all that good for that purpose...the standard sights arent good for it and because of the unique way the sights are designed you cant swap different sights on it...

i never saw an FNX in person until today....funny to blow $1k on a gun you never held eh?......im not all that fussy, so i knew id like it though.....so i held one now and it felt great....lighter than i thought it would be....also shocked how its a 15 round gun, yet doesnt appear any larger than other 45's

im expecting similar accuracy from the new gun vs the outgoing colt

i will search for a deal on a trijicon.....seems like they are all $500+....painful to spend that much

looks like they are $540 everywhere.....i assume it just screws down onto the gun right? no special mount is needed ?

im shocked that even used they are $460......i cant see risking used to save $80

will my Glock flashlight click under the FNX .45?

The gun will come with screws and a base plate. Yeah the rmr are expensive. I'm looking for one too. About 500.00 but thinking there will be deal in the future. Honestly I can tell u one thing that may be helpful and pay for itself. If you come a member-15.00 a year new threads open to you and there are places where you will find deals first and they are normally for forum supporters first, usually the good deal find their ways to public forum-- but with the anmo find forum (also for supporters) there you will save a to of $ there too. Something to think of. Another good site and supporter is slick guns.com-- if you watch them there will be deal that pop up. I'm guessing that there will be lots if them for cheap with Black Friday around corner.

I have tried both the burris fastfire III and a Trijicon RMR on my FNX Tac and I prefer the Burris. I can't imagine carrying this behemoth of a pistol, but the red dot sight is fun and faster at the range than using irons.

Payed 427.00 for my RM04 (can be found even cheaper). I dont like batteries and in case of a "wash" situation I can revert to the irons. Been ringing steel rather quickly @ 100yrds lately with the RMR. I use the front sight anyway for quick aquisition to taget at which point the dot takes over. Takes a couple days to get used to but I like the RMR.

picked up the gun tonight....first thing i noticed is all the marks all over the barrel.....the gun dealer said it was normal lockup marks.....it just looks horrible for a new gun to have marks like that.....looked it up online...sounds normal though

i chose the thicker back strap with the smoother finish....the rough finish would tear your hand apart id think

i have never bought a gun where the manufacturer recommends cleaning it before use....i even thought glock had break in grease on their guns that you werent supposed to clean off.....so i dissembled and cleaned....the only barrel brush i had for a 45 is nylon....and it didnt seem to take the copper fouling off the grooves.....dont see how the gun has all that from a few test fired.......should i take it apart again and use a wire brush on the barrel or should i enjoy it tomorrow and clean it up whenever? (at first i thought the barrel was rusty inside the copper fouling is so pronounced)

i compared it to my Glock 35....amazing how similar size it is and yet its 15 rounds of 45 in the same size the glock is 15 rounds of .40....how the heck do they fit such a hicap. in that clip....

also tried my glock flashlight attachment...fits great, looks awesome.....one problem...the index finger doesnt reach the light switch like it does on the glock 35

trigger dryfiring feels excellent....very light....not as good as my goldcup, but for a military gun i think its amazing.....long travel though
