Is the best war film I've seen in years. 'Nuff said.

Now I need to go start my Mk12 build before everyone else does.

Yeah it is. What do you think they should have done with the Al Queda goat herders?

Well, Marcus says looking back they should have killed them hands down. I'm not one to disagree with Marcus Luttrell. I honestly have no idea how I'd have thrown my vote that day. Death before dishonor is easy to say with two feet planted firmly in my comfy home. When you're in the sh!t, all bets are off. I could go on and on arguing for both sides but when it comes down to it, morally they 100% made the right call. They all have my respect.

As a rule, I don't go to war movies any more. Especially if it's set in Afghanistan or Iraq. In the last 10 years, the only thing I saw was "Restrepo," and I had to make myself sit through it. I didn't/don't sleep very well for weeks afterward. I am going to see "Lone Survivor" if for no other reason than some of the profits from the movie will go to Veteran's causes. That makes it worth the personal after-effects.

I was kind of out on Wahlberg playing Lutrell. A short, Boston guy playing a tall, strapping Texas lad? Hmmm.

Yeah. But Robert Duvall saved that movie. As well as the fight scene in the bathroom. Funniest fight scene EVER

It's a shame Wahlberg is in it so I have to boycott the film. I used to like him until he came out with his anti 2nd A commentary. He has no problem making millions staring in movies like this but then he trashes American rights. What a hippocrate.
You guys are giving your money to this guy's benefit? :th_1106::grin::th_puke:

"Well, I would love it if they could take all the guns away. Unfortunately, you can't do that so you hope that good people in the world have them to protect the people who can't protect themselves,'' he says.

"Certainly, I haven't used a gun anywhere other than on a movie set and I'd like to see if we could take them all away. It would be a beautiful thing."'

I know it looks like an awesome film but I strongly urge all of you not to give your money to this. At least wait until it hits broadcast television. :p

Zip cuffed them and moved them uphill till they were able to established coms and get an evac. Once they saw the blackhawk cut them loose. But I wasn't there and its not fair to second guess. The one thing I do hope people get across from the movie is that our communication systems are **** and the ARMY requests air support if they get a whiff of humas. When they got out the Sat phone I found it kinda funny. Also why didn't a least one have an EPIRB.

I'm reading the book right now, kind of worried to see the movie now (if they screw it up, I'm going to be pissed). IMO Wahlberg was a terrible choice to play Lutrell. His size plays a pretty big part in the book so far and to ignore that (or so I think, haven't seen the movie yet) is a bit of an oversight.

They didn't have cuffs or even rope to do so. He talked a little bit about it in the book. I was thinking that they could have left two of the guys on over-watch of the village and had the other two escort the goatherds the opposite direction.

I won't be going to see it. I bought the book and will keep sending my donations directly to organizations that support our vets, I don't need Hollywood to do it for me.

I'm sorry I must have forgot that scene, I know they had para cord or something they could have improvised cuffs with though. Also in the movie I noticed them using Beretta M9's? Also the suppressor would have caught on fire with fabric on it.

Yeah, would have ziptied em to a tree. But if had shot em, I still wouldn't have any trouble sleeping.

I wonder if US SOCOM has since changed clandestine ROE to prevent another OP RED WINGS?

That was in the book. From what he wrote, they didn't have anything to tie them up with.
