hi, im new here and am looking at a used fn at a gun store. it is an fn musketeer in 30.06. it has a very nice walnut stock, the mauser style action and has scope mounts on it. it also has williams sights on it. how can i tell when it was made? i have found on the internet that there is a I and II type of musketeers. this seems to be the first design, there is no II marking on it. the store wants 399.00 for it. any info on date codes and the value of this gun is appreciated, thanks, chris.

If the date is on the gun it would be below the level of the wood, probably on the side of the rear tange above the trigger. It might also be on the barrel.
If it's in fairly good shape that price is probably ok.
