I have read the manual but it does not show specific lube points. Are there any places that should definitely be lubed and places that should not? Also...is Breakfree CLP ok to use for cleaning? Ballistole?

Which firearm are you asking about? FN manuals are pretty specific about which points need lubricated. For
example, there is a detailed manual about care and feeding for the SCAR 17S. Check your manual and if you
have additional questions just ask. BTW, CLP is my longtime favorite for lubrication.

From the attached manual....

"Apply one drop of lubricant to the outer chrome-plated surface
of the barrel, the return spring, the inside of the slide (especially
the grooves for the guide rails and the part of the bottom of the
slide which comes into contact with the hammer), the guide rails
of the frame as well as the hammer (its contact area with the
slide).Never apply lubricant to the breech face."
