My experience has not been that good, but Chris at molon labe is trying to make good. I don't want to throw them under the bus just yet. The mags I received 2 months ago did not work. They accepted the return and have promised some gen 2 replacements. I have yet to see the replacement mags but have been told that I should see them at the end of this month.

I'm not sure who Chris is? You need to talk to Pepper, he will fix you right up!

I tried one I bough a few months ago and found it had a few potentially correctable issues, first the single spring was not made to compress straight inside the mag so the spring would bind. Placing spent .40 S&W shells under the spring on the floor plate and under the follower to level the ends of the spring so that it compresses vertically really helped with the spring bind. Then I filed the snot out of the follower ends and guide groves so that it can now tilt up in the front almost 45* and actually "follow" the tilt of the stack of .308 cartridges, this keeps the top cartridge pushed up level under the mag's feed lips with even pressure for smooth extraction, something the mag would not do before my mods. It even loads decently to about 20 rounds before the slight bulging starts. I did not push my luck trying to force more than 25 rounds into it as it just got too hard at point, even with the dry graphite I lubed the inside of the mag and follower with.

My thinking is that the version I have is plagued with a spring that is made too short and stiff. I am of the belief that a much longer weaker spring would do a better job and solve most of the issues with simply too much spring pressure as the mag is loaded close to full. I would love to see this mag perfected and someday run as reliably as a PMAG as it would give us magazine options our SCAR 17's don't currently have without switching to an aftermarket lower.

With that said, while I have a complete STRYKER lower on pre-order and will convert to SR-25 PMAG's for it, I am keeping my complete OEM SCAR lower in case I ever have to send the gun back to FN I will be able to send it in its OEM configuration. Because of that, I will stock up on Molon Labe mags for my OEM lower as soon as I hear they have been perfected. Why? Because I like having options and I don't mind supporting those who work hard to make new options available to us.

Stay as far away as you can! I ordered 6 of the 40 rds.and all junk. Chris (the owner)? Promised me new mags if and when they come out.
Dont know why Magpul doesn't come out with Scar 17 mags.

It has been said that Magpul looked at the requirements for making Scar mags and determined the mag well is just too narrow for the typical Magpul design criteria. I don't know how true this is, but it would make sense if it is.

I suppose if I were to find any fault with my my Scar 17 it would be the virtual proprietary mag/mag well design that limits us to 20 round FN mags if we want reliable feeding.

FN had four Scar 17 options the way I see it:

1) Use FN FAL mags

2) Use SR-25 style AR-10 mags

3) Use some other well established brand of .308 mags like the $3 surplus H&K G3 mags

4) Invent a new proprietary mag that is not compatible to anything else and no one other than FN is going to make for a very long time

At least Molon Labe is making the effort

Company's like Molon Labe and Handl came into beginning to cash in on the long magazine drought, and have to date been a total failure in design and craftsmanship. There are plenty of snake oil companies selling solutions to perceived deficiency.
If my dates are correct Handl took 120 days from when he introduced his proof of concept to when units shipped.
