I'm in Saratoga county ny finally got my permit. For my first gun it is a fns 9mm any tips would be great thanks

Congrats on the FNS. I recommend you do a lot of dry fire practice. It will help smooth out the trigger. There is a good thread here about how to improve the trigger if you think yours needs it.

Yep.
A bit of Blue Magic metal polish, a lot of dry practice, and a few hundred rounds through it will do wonders for any grittiness you may initially feel.
I also found that the grips were a bit harsh on my skin when wearing IWB, so a light sanding took care of that.
One last thing...because it always gets asked:
For OWB - Kydex Tech, Tac Tech or Blade Tech (Shooter's pack).
For IWB - Alien Gear or Old Faithful.

Buy mags when you see them on sale.

If you plan on carrying with a weapon mounted light, decide which one when you order your holster.

No need to buy holsters you won't be using :)

Congrats! Do what Lester said and go to the range often. Practice safe practice!
