I got this rifle without the original flash hider.






I think the original hider looked like this. Notice how the bayonet lug and loop are all the way to the rear of the hider and on opposite sides. Can anyone help me find one?

Yes, a long hider is correct. I just found photos of more FN FALs imported by Steyr. They all have the long flash hiders with bayonet lug and loop on opposite sides. However, I think one would be impossible to find. And before anyone suggests using the L1A1 British type...nope.

OK. This just gets weirder

This is the hider that came on FN FAL belgian imports. The hider is neither typically belgian, austrian, or british for that matter.

Today I was reading an article on the history of the FAL and lo and behold there it was. The hider is an old T48 design.
