My fiend just bought an original Elite 92. Where the hammer hits the firing pin is a small looking crack in the slide. (where the hammer would rest on slide after you let it down. On the dial of the firing pin cut out it is about 7 o’clock. Should this be here or is it a crack? I can't tell if its been removed or cracked. I have a 92fs and don't believe it has this space. If it is a crack why would it crack here?

Thanks,

This is a HUGE joke at the Beretta forum. Not a week goes by where someone doesn't ask about this. There are even pictures people post each time as a joke.

So, don't worry, It isn't a crack. It's meant to be that way. It's made that way.

No problem. I've owned a few Beretta 92s over the years. Nice gun.

I've got a 92 also. Shot it and cleaned it several times. Never noticed it. The other day a buddy got one at lunch and was looking it over. Asked me if it was a crack. I couldn't remember if mine had that same spot there or not. It does....and three extra! Just kidding! :-D
