Need some wisdom from some FNS owners

Howdy, I'll keep this short and sweet. I just picked up an FNS 9 (first pistol BTW). Ive read some stuff about them locking up if you reset the trigger with your finger and not by cycling the slide. So I did exactly that and it wasn't exactly "locked up" it was just hard to cycle the slide... I guess I kinda forced it. Everything still seems OK but I won't get another chance to test it at the range for at least a week. So I was wondering if any of you think I might have damaged something by doing this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your new FNS-9. I picked one up a couple of months ago and just love it. So far about 300 rounds with no issues. I guess my first question is why you would want to reset the trigger with your finger. Starting with an empty gun, I load a mag and slingshot the slide to load the first round. When the mag is empty and the slide locked open, I eject the empty one and insert full mag. I then release the side stop to load the first round.

No, Spruce. No harm done.

There was a minor non-issue with early productions of the model, but the only time I've heard of FN doing anything about it are the rare instances where you couldn't "power through" it just like you did.

Incidentally, the problem you heard about and described comes from the trigger safety coming too far out of alignment when you manually pull the trigger forward; put a finger behind the trigger and push up and in a bit and nine times out of ten the issue resolves itself. Otherwise, just like you said, Grip & Rip.

Thanks very much for the replies and knowledge, you guys made me feel a lot better about this. BTW... Watch Guy, its not that I wanted to do it. Its just that I heard that it would lock the slide up so me being the curious fellow that I am, I had to try it haha. Anyway thank you all again for taking a weight off my mind so to speak. Take it easy gentleman.

Enjoy the gun!!!
Thanks, I really have enjoyed it so far. I went in the shop with alot of guns in mind but when I saw the fns and then held it, it was like love at first sight.
So I hit the 500 round mark yesterday, no issues of any kind. This thing is pretty darn awesome. Now if FN would make them in compact I'd buy one of those too.
