Glad the neighbor was able to assist the off-duty officer.

Neighbors, including off-duty officer, hold burglary suspect at gunpoint | AL.com

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Alabama - A Pinson man is in the county jail after authorities say neighbors of a home he was burglarizing thwarted his crime.
Jefferson County sheriff's deputies were called to a vacant home in the 5000 block of Gold Leaf Lane near Pinson about 9:15 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, two neighbors - including an off-duty Tarrant police officer - were holding the suspect at gunpoint, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian.
They told deputies a neighbor had seen the man pull up to the home and run to the rear of the house. From outside, they could see him going from room to room.
The neighbor alerted another neighbor who is a Tarrant police officer. The two stopped the suspect as he was coming out the front door.
Noah Carter, 29, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary. He remained in the Jefferson County Jail Tuesday with bond set at $8,000.

This is how neighbors are supposed to be. To many people don't care to get involved.

Many years ago, a home next to my parents was being robbed in daylight. A neighbor saw this and didn't even call the police, just watched. My dad happened to drive down the street coming home, and that scared them off, leaving a lot of stuff on the sidewalk.

If she had called the police, they would have been caught.
