Brand new here, joined basically so I could ask a question. I purchased my first FN ever in the form of a Fnx-45 (non-tactiCOOL) at a great price under $700. However it came with 10 round magazines instead of the 15 round. I've disassembled the magazines and noticed the catch that limits it to ten on the walls of the mag. Is it possible to remove these and convert them to 15 rounds? In case anyone mentions it, I live in a free state. 15 rounds mags are good to go here in North Carolina. Thanks for the help in advance !

Why not buy 15 roundrs and sell the 10 rounders to someone who can use them?

People move to capacity limited states so there is a demand for trades or sales of magazines so I would follow jhs27275 advice as he is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience especially regarding this forum. If you modify them you may destroy them and the modified magazines may not be legal for sale (FFL/LGS resale) or have no market value/low market value. If I moved to a capacity limited state I would trade you.

Another vote for buying new 15 round magazines. The 10 round magazines are NOT designed to be easily modified to 15 so your easiest fix is to just replace them. Be happy you don't live in the great socialist state of CA!

why not use them for when you CCW? I ordered a 10 round mag from brownell's specifically for this reason, less printing.

I want to see pictures of the notches that limit the mag to 10 rounds. I would also like to see depth measurements to compare against a 15 rnd mag.

If it was me I would "remove those notches and see what happens." Then I would report back here with further pictures and results.

In fact' I bet if you were willing to donate those mags to the right party on this forums, they would do the work for you and return them when done.

Just my $.02
