New owner of an FN Hi-Power .40 S&W

Well, I was looking at purchasing a new FNP-9 for my next handgun purchase when I ran across a new FN Hi-Power in .40 S&W.

I really wanted on in 9mm but I was always a fan of the Hi-Powers and couldn't pass this up.

I love that FNs come with three magazines and the case it comes with is pretty nice too. Much better than some of the other gun companies.

One of the first things I noticed was the VERY stiff recoil spring as I tryied to lock the slide back. I'm hoping this gets better once I send some rounds down range. Is there anyway to loosen it up a bit other than getting some range time?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You can try leaving the slide locked back for a while - but shooting it will break it in, as you stated.

Congrats on the gun purchase.

Thanks Shipwreck. I was thinking about that yesterday at the gun store. Lock it back for two weeks.

:? :? :? :?

U could also try hand cycling it too - but I think shooting it would be the best way.
