My 'gift pack' from FNH finally arrived! I got the MI Rail Extension and four more mags. SWEET! So... heading out tomorrow for some deer hunting and I just sighting in my irons and my scope. In order to install the rail extension, I need to essentially remove the barrel, assemble the extension, and put it all back together. So my question (and I'm pretty sure I already know the answer...) is - will my sights and scope require re-zeroing after re-installing the barrel? I don't really have time to get the range again before I head out and our deer camp has a rule that there is no shooting before opening morning...

Not a big deal if I have to wait but it would have been awesome to have it put together before hunting. I have a GG&G XDS-2 bipod that mounts on the bottom rail and to leave room, my foregrip is slid back farther than I'd like... I may just not use the bipod for now...

Congrats on your gift pack. I'm going to send mine in today. I thought they came in blk only, I didn't know you could get them in FDE. As far as installation I can't help you out but take a look at YouTube. I have seen some vids on install them but I haven't watched yet.

Edit: I re-read your post and you already know how to install the rail and just wanted to know about the zero on the rifle. Don't quote me on this but I thought I read that when you re-install your barrel after taking it off it will be within 2 moa of accuracy. You have to torque it back down in sequence pattern when reinstalling.

The SCAR design is so that the removal and re installation of the barrel is with in 1MOA if you follow the torque sequence, but I personally recheck and so far mine fall with in that. If I was going hunting I would have the rifle zeroed with the ammo I was using for the hunt and if I pulled the barrel I would recheck zero, hours of sitting in a cold tree stand wanting for a shot and missing pisses me off.

Agreed... I zeroed in with my hunting ammo and was pleased with the groupings (not quite as tight as the FGMM). It's going to be COLD up north (single digits) and I'd be really pissed if my sights were off and I missed a shot. I'll just have to install it when I get back and that gives me another excuse to get to the range... (Got the inch-pounds vs. foot-pound... that's why I bought that Weaver kit you can see in the picture...)

follow-up... went to the range to see how far off the sights would be... with the iron sites at 25m, after re-installing the barrel with the new rail extension, put rounds right into the bulls-eye... No adjustments necessary. At 100 yards, the Vortex VIPER PST was off by about 1 MOA (high). Quick adjustment and right on the bulls-eye. No pictures (so I guess it never happened) but all I can say is I'm impressed with this weapon system...
