New member, old forum lurker and poster...been on TFL and Glocktalk since 1998...

Anyhoo...

Carried a Colt M16 in the Marines, and was horrified when they lost the contract to FNH a while back. How is that possible? A foreign company wins a US contract?? Alas, I was in when the M249, M240 were added, replacing my M60 and Beretta replaced my 1911 also. I'm a former 0311 and later, an 8541...

So I see this girl, posted below, in my LGS (used - seemingly unfired as well) and make the leap for $2800. Read so much about it I couldn't resist. Frankly, the trigger is gritty and has four stages, but she can really produce if you dig in and focus. Ammo was Federal Match, 168gr Sierra BTHP. I put 400 rounds through it in the first couple days without an issue, factory and reloads. My .308 Galil replaced my M1A as my 'go to' rifle. I just put the Galil in the safe... (Now, this girl sits and waits for bad guys instead.)

Came with three mags and a 'drag bag' also. Need to get a good sling, replace the grip, more magazines, and may get an Atlas for the front. But then I'm done.

Congrats on your SCAR. I'm a new convert as well with my rifle replacing my LMT 308, M1A and HK 91 as my go to rifle. What ammo were you using?

My first issued USMC M16 (A1) was made by General Motors! My last issued weapon (M4) was made by Colt.

The M16 in my patrol car is an old A1 stamped "GM Hydromatic". Maybe it was yours

It was tough for me to replace The Right Arm of The Free World with the SCAR17S but I had to acknowledge that the SCAR is a better gun. The FALs are still the first runners up though.

Nice shooting, Marine! I've been a GDC (**Civilian) my whole life and I did this with my SCAR 17 topped with Elcan Specter DR 1.5/6. Also at 200M.

Needless to say, bad guys can run, but they'll just die tired.
