Hey guys I have a G19 which I love but recently Ive been having a real hankering for a SA/DA firearm. Ive noticed that CDNN has some pretty good prices on military contract overrun FNP 9's. They have the compact and the 4in versions. I was wondering if anyone has either of these and could shed some insight on them... pros and cons, and they compare to a g19. Like is the width on the compact wider then that of a g19 and so on and so forth.
Thanks for the help

Hey Joe welcom to the sickness!!!!
I have the FNP-9 and love it. I am not a big Glock fan but not a basher either. I like the fn bc it is light weight, easy to carry/Conseal and accurate...the biggest problem you will encounter is the DA pull for the first round it is a bit heavy but predictable. after that SA is sweet. My 9 has more muzzel flip than my 45 but it is easy enough for double taps. The list of guns I have/had include Kimber, XDs, HK, Sig, Beretta, Colt , Glock and Ruger and my FNs are my favorite to date.

Well my .02 hope it helps

well, I've got both, my 19 use to be my fav. but no more, the 9m is a little smaller( grip and barrel) then the 19 but shoots alot better, the full size is a little bit bigger then the 19 , the grip is alittle longer.the barrel is alittle bit shorterthan the 19.you won't be disapointed in either.

The FNP is very similar in size to the G19. Overall, they are almost the same size. The slide and frame on the FNP is a little taller, but it really doesn't make a difference in the holster.

THe DA/SA trigger is better IMO. I like the heavy first pull so that in the event of an "incident" you really have to mean to shoot it. Then, you get the nice SA pull that is quite light. My G19 and G26 both have the NY1 trigger, so every shot is a little on the heavy side.

I like the FNP a bit more than the G19, but then again, I like my G26 more than my G19. I wouldn't hesitate to get one, especially at the CDNN prices.

they are new, just overstock on military contract.
thanks for the info guys. Sounds like im going to get one.
now i just need to decide which one to get.
so am I wrong to think that the compact is slimmer then the G19?
that would be a + for ccw

If you can get a DA/SA 9m, that is what I would get. They are not producing 9m models right now, so it would be good to get while you can (unless they are going to unveil a new compact version next year). You can always get the standard FNP-9 later on since they still make them.
Although, I don't know if you can get the awesome two-tone in a 9m. If you like basic black, then 9m would be good. I was tired of my black GLOCKs, so I went with the two-tone FNP-9.

Good reasoning, eh?

I think they were selling them both for sub $400 recently.

To me, most of the appeal of these guns over say a Glock or many of your other polymer framed designs is that they're DA/SA. If you don't want an exposed hammer, you might as well go with one of the other offerings that are more common and have more holster choices and a stronger aftermarket.

+1

I really wanted to try a hammer after having owned GLOCKs for a few years. I originally wanted a Sig, but the standard guns were too pricey and I din't know much about the Sig Pro. Then I saw the FNP series and thought they looked great. I then saw that many people thought the trigger was better than the Sig trigger, so I figured that I would give it a shot.
I hope the holster situation improves. At least I have my Bladetech freebie!
