While I patiently continue my wait for a back-ordered scope, I couldn’t help myself and decided to shop for upgrades to my 17. After doing plenty of reading about QD mounts, selector switches, and grips, I decided to give Parker Mountain Machine a try. Looking at their goods online I was impressed with Jarod’s designs.
I ended up ordering two of his modified grips (because I was undecided between them), a couple selector levers, and the front QD sling mount. One of the items I ordered is out of stock, but his solution to that problem was above and beyond what you’d get form most of the larger retailers. About four days later I had everything in my hands.
Each of the PMM manufactured items had all of the necessary tools and thread locker included for the install. The installation instructions were easy to follow and had a picture to support the directions. I installed the larger selector switch and found that it was a perfect complement to the grip that suited me best, the Magpul MOE. Not only is the lever easier to reach with the new grip, but it “throws” easier due to the increased length and resulting leverage.
The front QD mount featured a non-rotating cup and puts the front sling attachment point up and away from the 9 o’clock rail. Another sturdy looking accessory that is well designed. I had a Midwest Industries rail system up front and that gave me a front sling cup, but I took it off recently to trim the weight. I had also tried a rail-mounted sling cup, but that ate up rail space and didn’t last long. Jarod’s design, in my mind, is perfect.
Overall, I’m very impressed with the offerings of PMM - well designed, well built, finished to spec, instructions are complete and easy to follow, and shipping was quick and without issue. Add in his already outstanding customer service and you can consider me a future PMM customer. Good job Jarod.
