It's been 108 days since November 30, 2014 when I received an email from the ATF telling me my Form 1 was disapproved. Why it was disapproved is a joke, it took me 4 days to complete the online form -literally 4 frikkin' days due to the "system" dragging ass or simply not responding- but I was told the Applicants Name ie: my NFA Trust was incomplete which again is utter nonsense since I took a screenshot of each page and it IS clearly there AND complete. The ATF being a typical inept and incompetent gubment agency is staffed with morons of the highest order. In the disapproval email I am advised a $200 refund will be forthcoming.....really!?! So now after 108 days have passed I ponder the question, when exactly will it be forthcoming?

A month and a half ago I phoned NFA Branch and was told it can take up to 90 days but generally no more than 60 to process refunds. Again I ask, where's my money? I have called everyday this week and each time I am told, "yes, you should've received your refund by now but have you spoken to this or that person?". Of course I have not spoken to this or that person because all I get is this or that person's voicemail and as per gubment status quo, never hear back.

It's not so much the $200 although I could by more ammo with the money no, for me it's the principal of the matter. I loathe, detest and despise stupidity, incompetence, laziness and dishonesty in any form. All the previously mentioned should automatically and involuntarily cause physiological pain and discomfort to the point of rendering the perpetrator catatonic. Trust me, the world would be a better place. Okay, rant......OFF!

How long has anyone else had to wait for an NFA refund?

UPDATE:

Okay, this is actually a little spooky. Not more than 10 minutes pass since I post this thread and I get a call from Martinsburg, WV and it's the NFA Branch apologizing for the delay with my refund. This individual whose name is Scott explained that the original Examiner failed to submit my disapproved Form 1 -read my OP for my thoughts on stupidity and incompetence- for a refund. Scott again apologized for the run around I experienced this week and informed me he had already spoken to the Supervisor thus my refund should be processed this week. Well, hallelujah!

Either happy coincidence or as we all suspect, WE brethren and sistren are monitored while in here. Of course I'll lean towards coincidence right after a finish wrapping my head in tinfoil.

Seamac, firstly, good to hear from you, man. And secondly, I understand your frustration. At least things seem to be moving now.

My first Form 1 was rejected, and it took three months to get the money back. I had two other rejections (done together) and they took two and a half months to be refunded. I did have a technical glitch that was refunded in two weeks, but that was an anomaly. I actually had approved resubmissions for all three disapprovals in my inbox way before the refunds...like months before. They really like hanging on to the money.

Nice hearing from you too Scott. Yep, the gubment likes to hold on to OUR money don't they? How quick they are to take it and as slow as molasses in an artic blizzard to return it.

Well then, if any ATF member read my post and felt pity for my plight then expedited the process I thank you and don't take my rant personally. However, without my tinfoil hat I must assume it was merely coincidence..........................or was IT!?!

As we've said a few times, we have members who work for ATF.

That's a great idea, unfortunately I didn't think of it earlier and they did call back today apologizing and promising to remedy the matter by weeks end. However, if Friday comes and no refund, come Monday I phone my CC and file a dispute.

File a credit card dispute, that's what I did. The issue was rectified in 7 business days.
