NFA eFile Refund........WTF!?!

3541 Views 24 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  knife edge
It's been 108 days since November 30, 2014 when I received an email from the ATF telling me my Form 1 was disapproved. Why it was disapproved is a joke, it took me 4 days to complete the online form -literally 4 frikkin' days due to the "system" dragging ass or simply not responding- but I was told the Applicants Name ie: my NFA Trust was incomplete which again is utter nonsense since I took a screenshot of each page and it IS clearly there AND complete. The ATF being a typical inept and incompetent gubment agency is staffed with morons of the highest order. In the disapproval email I am advised a $200 refund will be forthcoming.....really!?! So now after 108 days have passed I ponder the question, when exactly will it be forthcoming?

A month and a half ago I phoned NFA Branch and was told it can take up to 90 days but generally no more than 60 to process refunds. Again I ask, where's my money? I have called everyday this week and each time I am told, "yes, you should've received your refund by now but have you spoken to this or that person?". Of course I have not spoken to this or that person because all I get is this or that person's voicemail and as per gubment status quo, never hear back.

It's not so much the $200 although I could by more ammo with the money no, for me it's the principal of the matter. I loathe, detest and despise stupidity, incompetence, laziness and dishonesty in any form. All the previously mentioned should automatically and involuntarily cause physiological pain and discomfort to the point of rendering the perpetrator catatonic. Trust me, the world would be a better place. Okay, rant......OFF!

How long has anyone else had to wait for an NFA refund?

Odd, as my friend screwed his Form 1s up three times. Sent an email off to NFA branch, disapproval and refund sent next day. Mind you, this was right after submitting the forms, so I had him send the email to them right after to have them rejected and a new form 1s submitted.

Wait a minute, if it was rejected in error, and you HAD filled out your trust name correctly, why didn't you capitalize on Scott calling you to have him dig in and correct it? I presume you would rather get the Form 1 corrected than get $200 back.

Once you have a real person on the other line, you have the power to actually get help! I hope you at least got his direct line!

I did get Scott's direct line, in retrospect I have decided against an SBR'd 16s. Once I discovered I'd have to notify the ATF every time I wished to travel with my SBR that was a deal breaker for me. I enjoy being able to pick and go when and where I please without notifying, seeking permission from or answering to ANYONE! They can give me my $200 back which will be applied to a suppressor for the 16s. In this instance, the BATFE can kiss my ever-loving.......................tighty-****** covered.......and then some! SO THERE! :?

If you email Ted Clutter and reference the control number of the denied form and that of the newly submitted one he usually approves them same or next day. You WONT get a notification that it has been approved in this matter. Ted is a proponent of our hobby and also a supervisor.
