As you can tell from my earlier posts I had the same dilemma on the ideal scope for my 17S SBR. I also did not like the tight eyebox on the NX8 for use on the 17S which moves around quite a bit more under recoil. Although the NX8 seems fine on a 16S.
I just received the Kahles K18i 1-8x w/ 3GR reticle from Eurooptic and so far I'm very pleased. On 1x it has a huge field of view, a very thin outer bezel ring like the Razor, and the image looks flat with minimal fisheye. The eyebox is more forgiving than the NX8 at all power ranges, weight is only 19oz, and the overall fit and finish is very nice.
The 3GR reticle is not as good as the FC-DMx on the NX8. But the center dot is definitely daytime bright and it has adequate elevation and wind holds for out to 640 yards with my current data from the 13" barrel.
Up on 8x the glass is very clear and crisp. The eyebox does get a little tighter like all LVPO's with this zoom multiple but it's still much more forgiving than the NX8. I compared it side by side with the following scopes on a wooded tree line at 350 yards:
Nightforce NX8 1-8x
Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42
Trijicon Credo 1-6x
The K18i clearly has the highest glass quality of the group which makes it feel more like a 10x scope than an 8x. For example you could see greater detail on things like tree bark texture. I don't feel shortchanged by not having a 10x top end at all.
It comes with 2 sizes of power throw levers and the magnification ring moves very smoothly. I haven't taken it to the range yet but so far seems like it's a winner. Not the greatest picture but you get the idea:
