optic magnifer and night vision

I think I am getting over my head on this due to inexperience. I have a Eotech 552 on the 90 and really like it. I am wanting to get a 3X magnifer and am looking at the Eotech model for this as well. So now the issue. I want a magnifer that uses night vision as I enjoy low light tactics and want the advantage. Eotech magnifers don't offer a NV version so I started looking around at some options. I have run across a Yukon and ATN scope. I have to use a monoocular style unit as the true rifle scopes have reticle in them already. I am not sure how the mono units will work going thru the eotech and using its reticle. Does anyone have any experience in this area or advise. Thanks

I can't answer your specific question - but I will say that you will have a tough time fitting all that onto the PS90 - There is 1 guy here that did it using a longer rail that he slid onto his PS90 rail. That's pretty much the only way you will fit that.

Critical Dimensions used to sell a slightly extended PS90 top rail that might barely have all of that fit.

Good luck :?
Better try that magnifier before you buy. I tested out one on a friend's AR and it seemed to be picky about eye relief. The device is cool in all other respects but I had quite a fight keeping it from "blacking out". Others who tried it didn't have as much problem so I don't know if it was me or not. I don't have any similar issues with regular rifle scopes.
An Eotech 552 and their 3x magnifier is good to about 100 yards with a good 3rd generation NVG in a semi-urban environment. I use a PVS-14A on a headmount and have very clear target definition to that range with excellent precision, without using an IR illuminator. You can extend that with the magnifier and an Illuminator by another hundred yards, but you lose absolute covertness. Do not mount all three devices on the weapon. You lose too much flexibitlity by locking the NVG to the weapon. Plus, sweeping an area with a weapon mounted NVG means you are aiming your muzzle at the area you are surveiling, not a good solution. Point your eyes where you want to see and your weapon where you want to shoot.

Eye relief with a headmount NVG and the 3x FTS mgnifier is good - no issues mounting the weapon in an assault position and getting a full view.

Be aware that an ATN is a russian model and not the same quality tubes as used in the US equipment. An ATN gen4 is like a US gen2. the images are grainy and cause a lot of eye strain when used. ITT is one of the best names out there but i know others make good ones as well but cost a lot more.
Stop there are different things to accomplish this.

First, the more you magnify the less light there is this is important when you are amplifiying light.

With that pointed out there are 3X magnifiers for NV but they attach to the NVG lens not as an independent magnifier.

Now depending on what you over all goals are you may be better served with a helmet mounted system and red laser for aiming.

stay away from Gen I any questions IM me I have a fair amount of experience with NV.
well I found these ones made by Night optics usa. They actually have a swivel mount available for it as well. I saw a pic of one mountedto a rail behind a Eotech sight and it looked pretty good. Its a Gen II and is 1K. Thinking this might be the one to use. How does one post a pic?
to post a pic it must be hosted at another site like photobucket
and then use the direct link URL to post the pick.

$1k is what I paid for my gen II from the same company. They are nice good out to about 200 yards for shapes and ID can be done at about 50 yards. You can tell if its a deer or a person at 100 but not a deer or a large dog.

They do better with a IR illumination source like a white light filter.

The point is you may be happier with a helmet set up like this opposed to a a weapon mounted system with a light carnbine like the ps90.

BTW this is the same mono you are looking at.
