Been a while since I have posted on this board. I do have a FNP 40 & 45 so I am very familiar with the FN series of pistols. Had been considering the FNS or the Sig P320 compact, but when I handled both at my LGS today, the FNS just seemed to fit the hand and even the arthritic trigger finger felt at home with the trigger system. Since the only model in stock had plain sights, they are tracking down one with NS and a thumb safety. I know a lot of folks don't like a thumb safety these days, but for years I carried a 1911 and feel at home with them. Also, it is there to use or not use as well. Will follow up later when I bring it home and put a few hundred rounds through it.

Congrats! I would love to get the same model with NSs and thumb safety. Post pictures when you get it. If you can include some NC shooting pics that would be cool as well. I lived in Chapel Hill (Carrboro actually) for just over 5 years and I miss it there.
It seems every gun mag on the stand this month has a FNS compact story and cover shot. I'm planning on getting one for me and one for my wife next month. All the media coverage, I figured it might be hard to locate in stock. My wife is still young but has arthritis in her gun hand, what about the trigger helped you? The short stroke?

I got one with night sights and the safety. P320's trigger felt really gritty to me--which was a real surprise, given how much people have raved about it.
I'm fairly new to pistol shooting, but I have an HK VP9, Glock 30, and M&P Shield. I was really intrigued by the FNS-9c when I saw its specs. After getting it, I have to say that it's a phenomenal pistol. For a carry gun, I think the trigger is spot on. Ergos are great too. Most noticeable is the really aggressive grip texture, which I think is a huge plus. (I have to put talon grips on my others.) I have 300-400 rounds through mine. Not one hiccup.
The only downside, as far as I can tell, is that magazines aren't yet available.... Per my e-mail to FN customer service last week, they're supposed to become available at the end of this month....
As strange as it may seem, I had not seen the G&A article on the FNS compacts even though I get G&A with their app. What I like about the FNS & trigger is the fine ergonomics of the grip and placement of the trigger and it's short stroke. My trigger finger second joint it really messed up with OA and dings encountered in the Army & sports. Some days it is only about 30% functional in terms of closing and grasping, but it had no trouble operating the FNS. Not nearly as functional with the P320C and I didn't care for its grip. The arthtitis has and is limiting me in choice of handguns these days and I'll probably be trading in my PM9 and P380 in the future because I can't properly operate their long triggers.
Thats good to hear as I have been undecided between the P320 and the FNS. I carried a Sig for over two decades and have faith in them but after seeing a pic on the Sig forum of light glowing thru many thin spots in its grip module felt leary. Ever since I got to enjoy a range session with a FNX 45 I have been infatuated with FN's quality. I didnt realize the P320 had a long trigger reach, that would give my wife problems with her arthritis.
I have the 9C and the P320 FS. Both are great pistols, but the 9C is my EDC, while the P320 is on standby. Either will do the job, I just kinda prefer the grip on the FNS for an EDC gun. The only thing I did to it was stone polish the firing pin blocker ramp and swap out the rear sight for a Trijicon HD rear, and swap the stop mag release bar for one from a full size. I didn't like the stock ramped rear sight in the event a single hand manipulation was needed.

Got my LGS looking for the model requested, but no joy yet.
I can attest the p250/320 grip. While it felt great, the grip seem cheaply made and scratched easily, and it did. However it function well and designed. Another gripe is the rail. It wasn't a 1913 rail. So any accessories attached had to be adjustable. Equally modular compare to the FNS. As I on occasion swap out my 9long for the 40 4". Which is why I think there will be a FNS 45.

Great weapon. I got my 9C a month ago and have about 300 rounds through it. Very easy to shoot. My wife has little experience and was able to quickly put shots on target. Got the standard 3 dot sights no safety. Only complaint is the lack of accessories. They also have a discount for LE / Military.
I remember seeing the I.O.P. program mentioned on fn's website months back. Is that through any FN dealer or only ones sanctioned as L.E. dealers? I try to buy from my local guy who is a friend but I don't think I can get the I.O.P. pricing through him, is it a substantial difference?
Think you would have to contact individual dealers to see if they are in the program. There is a dealer near me who is part of the program and they were selling a FNSc LEO model w/NS for about $550.00 and I though that was a bit high. I'll let you know what I paid after I pick it up next week.

Congrats. I absolutely love mine. I have the model w/o the safety with the factory night sights (though I am going to change them for the Trijicon HD's). Just got some incredible stippling done!

that is pretty high for the IOP program. i got one for $439 exactly as mentioned.
