I hope someone could help me with this. I've been searching the internet and haven't found any site showing the same target at 1000 yards with different scope powers. I'm really interested in seeing the following scopes maxed out on a 1000 yard target.

Schmidt & Bender 5-25x56 PMII LT H59
Nightforce 5-25x56 BEAST
Nightforce 15-55x52 Competition Scope
Nightforce 8-32x56 NXS
Nightforce 12-42x56 Benchrest

I can find pictures of scopes maxed out in the 5-25x range but no pictures of what a 8-32x or 12-42x maxed out at 1000 yards looks like.

I am trying to figure out do I want a scope like I have 5-25x. Or do I want to step up the magnification.

If anyone knows of a website or has pictures showing the differences please let me know.

Thank you

Sorry can't help.

Try a nearby 1000 yard range and see if someone there can help you.

The problem that I see here is that you are trying to mix apples and oranges together. Your scopes vary in lo/hi power from 5-25, 15-25, 8-32 and 12-42 so the only direct comparison that you can make is with the S&B and Beast.

They also vary in price from $1400 to $4000 - this directly corresponds to the type of glass they have. Good glass over size any day of the week.

Are you really going to just shoot 1000 yards or are you going to shoot anywhere between 300 and 1000 yards or more? Also, 56 is a mighty big objective lens so what platform are you mounting it on?

Yeah that my biggest problem. I live in Atlanta, GA and no gun shops around here keep super hi-power scopes. The most I can shoot out to in Georgia is about 600yrds. Though every summer I go to my lake house in the middle of no where in Pennsylvania. I mean dirt roads....and an hour to town. The power and telephone company has cut a path through the woods that is perfect for lone range shooting. It's probably 2000-3000 meters of a strait shot.

Thanks SD 9 Tactical. I guess what I'm looking for is a scope with such a high power that I can see the eyes of a ground hog at 600 yards. Basically I want to have a spotting scope on my riffle.

Thanks again guys

If you would like I do have Leupold mark 4 8-32x50 FFP and 6.5-20x50 for comparison?
Thats exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. Showing a pictures of a target at the same distances with 32x vs 20x. I'm surprised no one on the web has done picture comparisons of all the different powers. Yeah I know the math and what it should look like, but i'd imagine a lot of shooters would like to see what a target looks like at 1000yards with all the different brands and powers.

rslsss if you were putting a scope on a 600-1000 meter 308 bolt gun would you go with the 8-32 or 6.5-20?

Thats what I bought the Nightforce Atacr 5-25x56 scope for the Remington R5 Milspec 308 20" stainless threaded Brl so I can also use my AAC 762 sdn-6 when it gets out of jail, I Really like my 6.5-20x50 better than the 8-32x50 it just seems to fit most applications better than the 32x, I'm hoping the 5-25X56 will be a good fit for the new 700.
