You don't need a barrel block to remove the barrel. If it's going to be cut and threaded a hacksaw is the tool of choice. See the barrel removal stickie.
If you set your purse down and use both hands it should be faster that. That said, I'm lazy, so I use a 1/4" carbide end mill and do it in 1 pass.Hacksaw going to take 30 minutes to do, and two blades.
Sawsall is faster. :?
Should be twice as fast...you can pull back on the receiver and push on the saw. As for the Chinese blades...you're on your own.Oh, and I had to hold the barreled receiver, since I didn't have a bench vice at the time.
No, you can clamp the shroud as tight as you want. Cut anywhere midway between the pin and receiver. When you get through the barrel the shroud will pop forward, as it's spring loaded. That's when you know you're done.I heard the shroud may not break free. I was planning on saw zawing off the muzzle, if i clamp the barrel in my bench vise or say a pipe wrench, will it damage the barrel under the shroud when trying to break the barrel free?
