I've found that the best way to keep these pesky critters down, is a nice .22 hollowpoint.
I've had one raiding my bird feeder for the past 4 nights. Finally got him about 10 minutes ago.
Earlier in the summer, my dad got 3 in one night
Hopefully they will stay away for a while.

How well does the 22 hollowpoint work. Does it put them down with one shot? Does it have to be a head shot? Just wondering as I recently purchased a varmint killing 10/22.

If you hit them in the heart/lung area, they don't move. They sometimes growl a bit before they are completely dead, but they do a good job. Head/neck shots will drop them, but if you hit them near the hind quarters and stomach, they usually run a bit.

I also use an air rifle occasionally. The hunter pellets do some impressive damage, but aren't as good as the hollowpoint .22's.

I'm tempted to try my 9mm on them. They just keep coming, I just keep shooting. Thankfully, I'm in the country a bit and can get awy with it.
