Greetings from North Central West (by God!) Virginia!

Have spent a good portion of the last two (very snowy!) days reading posts on this Forum and have really benefitted already from your collective expertise on this weapon! Thought I might introduce myself and hopefully I'll be able to contribute to the Forum as well. I have for some time been thinking about the ultimate mid-range, "go-to", SHTF weapon system and have decided on the SCAR 16. We have long-range solutions in place (from .308 to .50 BMG) so I feel pretty confident in defense of our property (about 150 acres) should the need arise, but have never felt really good about a mid-range weapon that I could trust my life and the life of my family to should we ever be called upon to do so. I chose the 5.56 / .223 caliber because I have a good bit of resources to support it and I want to train and practice a lot with this system until I'm absolutely confident in my own skills -- I am already certain the SCAR platform will always be able to perform to expectations. So...... I've ordered a SCAR 16 FDE and am awaiting delivery to my FFL from the Distributor. From the hundreds of posts I have reviewed on the Forum, I've already ordered over $2K worth of "must have" accessories for the rifle I haven't seen yet, so thanks to all of you for that! I'll keep you all posted as this starts to come together, thanks for the wealth of information I've already mined here, looking forward to a long relationship with this rifle and with you!

The only FDE that is more accurate than a Black Scar is when I shoot it, so just send it to me and I will take care of it for you. :x

I hope you have a sense of humor. Welcome, and enjoy your new rifle.

Please make sure you check your mags so that the bolt catch lever doesn't hang up, some times people research and miss that.

Mine is pretty Plain Jane compared to some. I put an AFG grip, a two point sling (that can also be ran as a one point), and a red dot on mine (well it goes on and off, right now it is off).

Congrats on your purchase of the 16. Hopefully it will be in your hands in no time. My story is comparable to yours except for the 150 acres part (live in the city). But I did manage to narrow my choices down thanks to the info on this forum and I couldn't be any happier.

What accessories did you already purchase, if you don't mind sharing???
