Anyone have an idea how long a stock spring will last? 6000 rounds? 12000? 20000?
my 1911 is a ***** with springs, I have about 4500 rounds through it and notice a ton of slop already. Read they should be swapped out at 5000 or 7000.
My ruger's have well over 8000 rounds with no problems, just really loose. But not problems
I would assume this spring is like glock spring, which it is..should never need to be replaced?
Ship is right, the only reason mine were replaced was because of the slide not locking back. The gun still functioned perfectly in all other respects. I got them "replaced" at around 12k. By "replaced" I mean, I called Bob at FN (after calling customer service 3 times) and he had me send the mags in. I got two new ones in the mail about a week later...oh, and an FN hat. FN even paid for shipping both directions. I don't like that they just replaced the entire things, seems to me that that would just drive prices of the guns up. However, at the same time, I can't complain.
On the topic of recoil spring replacement, I would like to do it, but I'm about 90% sure that I would run into the same problem as mag springs. And I'm lazy. And I'm going to Germany for 4 years so I won't be able to have it anyway.
