Red Dot Broken

2398 Views 13 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Trvlngnrs
I received my PS90/red dot that I purchased on Gunbroker. The glass on the red dot is broken near the top. Looks like an impact occurred. It was shipped in bubble wrap and a cardboard box (no gun case as it was used).

I didn't have the FFL transfer it to me, and called the party I bought it from. It's a reputable dealer in Georgia.

Currently waiting for the owner to call me back. Seems like my options are to have them take gun back and refund my money, lower the price $350ish, or swap the red dot with an Aimpoint or Trijicon RMR they may have in stock (used Aimpoint H1 would be ideal).

Any thoughts?

If you can get an H-1 as a replacement, you'd come out on top in my opinion.

Agreed.

The owner's secretary called me back and wanted me to take a refurb C More red dot ($250 to purchase). I said that wasn't acceptable as I didn't want someone elses problem red dot + it wouldn't say FN on the side of the red dot, soit wouldn't be "factory".

Here is the broken one: Technology Electronic device Turquoise

I asked if they would give me $300 credit to purchase an H1 from them. Shell let me know what he says tomorrow.

If you can get the H1 go for it. That would be much better than that RDS that came with the PS90
No Insurance? Will the shipper not cover it?

Whoa, you did not have it transferred through a FFL, how did you manage that?
It shipped Fed Ex, but there is no outward damage to the box.

It shipped to a FFL, but I asked the clerk not to transfer it to me. I figured once I did that, I'd lose bargaining power. It's still at the store.

Smart of you! Once you transfer it in your name, its your problem. The way it is now, its still their gun, and they will have to eat return shipping *AND* then try to sell a gun with a broken red-dot. Since it is not in the condition they advertised, its their problem. It would be in their best interest now financially (and from a customer-service-standpoint) to just give you a $300 credit toward an H1 and be done.

So we came to an agreement. The owner called me and is going to knock the price of a refurbed C-more red dot off the price of the gun. The gun will end up costing me less than $1,000, plus I get to keep the sight! I'll contact C-more to see what it costs to replace the glass. I'm guessing <$100. On other forums, people talk about how great C-more's customer service is. I'm about to find out!

Aimpoint, Aimpoint, Aimpoint!

Much of the time an Aimpoint T-1 or H-1 are tougher and more impact resistant than the guns they are mounted on.

And if that fails call FN and get them to replace it. 1-800-635-1321
I would go the FNH route to having the sight taken care of.
I talked C more today. The good news it is only $85 to replace the glass. The bad new is they send their STS sights to Japan to be worked on, so it takes a month or two (probably two).

I'll send it off to get repaired, but I may have another sight by the time it gets back, so I can always sell it.

I have a Trijicon RMR that currently isn't being used, I may experiment with that. Not sure of the mounting options yet. Does anyone know how to mount an RMR on a PS90?
I believe Tros or Damage industries has what you need. Try this thread. I hope that helps.
