Okay all you experts - does anyone sell a lower parts kit for the 17?

I see a few places that sell parts, but haven't yet found a complete kit on the market.

I'd sure hate to have to order 25-35 parts individually from FN...

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

Hi-Desert Dog carries full LPKs but they've been out of stock for some time. I've been wait listed for several months already. Depending on whether or not you run the factory trigger or an aftermarket, or need a trigger, they average about $300. It's quite a chunk of change, but it would be nice to have another lower ready for an SBR build.

That pretty well sums up my one experience with HDD - even if they have something in stock they're not what can be described as "responsive".

I saw they had it listed when I searched Google, but given past experience, decided to take a pass.

Good luck getting your kit! I hope you have better luck than I did.

I've been able to buy a complete lower from MGW on a regular basis, if that helps
Yep - I saw they carried parts, but seemed to be out of stock on a number of items when I started poking around on the site. I'll go that route if I have to, but was really hoping someone knew where a kit could be had.

Never having worked with MGW, are they a company you can recommend? Do they ship promptly if they have something in stock?

They ship very quickly when items are in stock. I've purchased from them many times and will certainly continue to do so. Get on the "notify" list for OOS items. They're good folks to deal with.

Good to know - Thanks!

Only kits you'll find is if someone assembles one from all the parts.

FNH parts are slow to come into the country.

You could contact SE, and see what they have.

I honestly don't see how HDD stays in business. Seems like everything is out of stock all-the-time.
Funny business maybe... :th_confused0024:

I've ordered from HDD about 6 times I'd say, although it's been about a year since my last order. Every time, my order was received withing a week, except the last one, which was about 3 weeks. I always received email notices for things I asked to be notified on when back in stock. I've spoke with Brett Staunton of HDD a couple of occasions, and he was always very professional and helpful. I still haven't researched what all the complaints are about, and have wondered if things have gone down hill over there. I would research anything like their barrels or conversion kits before purchasing, but would do that with any after market products. I've also ordered from MGW about half dozen times, and have had no problem with them either. I ordered spare parts for a while as many people do to keep their platform viable. As I say, I don't know what the complaints are about, but would research them before I placed another order, as I trust the input on this forum. But I wanted to chime in and give my two cents regarding my experiences with HDD, and MGW.

I can only imagine that all the parts he has will be going to the lowers on backorder. Could you imagine him telling a person waiting a year to wait a little longer because he sold the parts for his lower, cause he thought some more might be coming in soon and would have them when the OEM version would be finished. EPIC poopoo storm!

I would just get a SEAL lower w/ Geissele trigger from Stryker.
He was asking about lower part kits...:?

I would have done that as well - if it were possible. When I ordered my second SEAL for my FDE 17, I could not order it with all the parts - only a bare lower was orderable.
My takeaway is that Stryker has enough parts to cover the orders he's taken already, but not enough for new orders.

Not too surprising given how tight FNH seems to be on making parts available. Maybe if we're lucky it will encourage an aftermarket parts market to develop - eventually.

My time with HDD was horrible. Nearly a thousand dollars and six months later nothing. He has hundreds of people he seems to get off on torturing. A true American awhole deserving of hellfire when he kicks over. But the guy loves selling to any stasi types. It's just private customers he loathes. Anyone looking to offer him a contract is no friend of mine. If I can get family to code him in the fed data base; he'll never get a fed contract if I can help it. I'll be looking at mail fraud soon; since court would be to frustrating.

I am building a scar 17, which is better? get the new non reciprocating charging handle kit and add another 400 for the bolt assembly or just try to wait to find the reciprocating charging and bolt for half the cost?
