Hey guys, as you can tell i'm new here. But i'm not new to FN or military style rifles. I've Been heavily into the AR-15 world for years. I am however new to the SCAR platform. I just ordered a stripped 17s lower and my plan is to peice my SCAR 17 together. Next thing i want to buy is a lower parts kit. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on where to order from? A stock LPK would be fine with me as i'll probably just pick up a Geissele FCG later down the road. Thank you in advance!

I hope you are a patient man. Some of the parts you will need are back ordered 10 months plus but I wish you the best of luck on your SCAR journey. Welcome to the forum! :)

Thank you everybody! Im definitely not the most patient person on the planet but it'll be worth it at the end. I just hope parts availability picks up for these, guess ive been pretty spoiled with the AR parts and availability. I'll aim for hopefully having a complete 17s by the end of this year. Sound realistic? And to the dude with the FCG, let me see if i can figure out how to PM on this forum lol

It occurs to me that it also might be a very expensive way to obtain a SCAR. I haven't done the math on this, but I would not be surprised that buying all of the parts loose and then assembling the SCAR is actually more expensive than just buying a SCAR. The parts market for SCARs is nowhere near as competitive as that for ARs. I would check. I wonder if it would be cheaper to just buy a SCAR>

From what ive seen it absolutely is WAY more expensive to peice it together, but i enjoy building weapons 1 part at a time for some reason, its temporarily easier on the wallet too (although not in the long run but thats alright) this way i'll know the ins and outs of my weapon, and dropping a few hundred bucks here and there is easier for me to do than save up (i always end up spending on EOTech's or ACOG's when i try) haha

I'd teach myself some patience. Buying them separately, the vendor is making money off of each part. Not PSA PTAC money, the bare trigger module from FN was $50 or something, vendors sell them $130. Different ball game than the AR. If you're military, you are eligible for the FN MIL/LE discount. Once you have the rifle, you can take the gun apart and put it back together to learn the "ins and outs".

It wouldn't surprise me if you wind up spending 33% more for the rifle by buying it in pieces. New they go for an average of $2800, bought in parts I'd guess $3500-$4000.......and that's if you can even find all the parts. Don't think I've ever seen an upper receiver offered anywhere all by itself.

This. Is there any reason why you're buying it in parts? It isn't going to be like your AR build; it's going to be a PITA to get the rifle piecemeal and ultimately you're going to end up spending more money than you would if you just purchase the entire rifle.

Not to mention the difficulty in buying an upper. Hope the OP knows the lower is NOT the serial numbered part of a scar. I don't know that I've ever seen just an upper for sale. Not that I've looked too extensively or anything. Hmm, gonna go hunting!

Who's going to sell you just an upper and barrel? The upper is the gun. You may find an eom stock. But no one is discarding or selling their uppers or bolt groups. Because there is no aftermarket bolt groups or parts nor is there a need for them. I can see maybe you find a barrel from someone who SBR end theirs but because of the ease of which you can change barrels. Most people probably keep their stock barrels. I just don't think this is financially, logically, or logistically a good idea.

I'm looking for the LPK, Lower Parts Kit, to replace the parts in my factory lower. I believe this thread is about replacement parts for the SCAR lowers, not uppers and barrels.
