today i had a ruptured case ending my range trip early. i did have a broken shell extractor which refused to work. i ended up using a black and decker screw extrator and popped out the broken shell just with finger pressure...

the case was super thin (curse of range pickups) the one on the left is the broken shell the base on the right is a winchester case i cut for testing various methods of extraction since the BSE refused to do what it is supposed to do.

following this i dropped in a 308win nogo case gage and it closed with the bolt. is this normal in these guns or is mine a bit over headspaced?? i didnt think there would be that big a diff tween 7.62x51 and 308win. im no expert in chamber gaging. im assuming ill need to order the correct gages and a different different case gage at this point. fired cases from my scar17 gage within tolerances in a 308 case gage before resizing.
