seeking handgun advice

I carry the USG but sometimes it is too large. I'm looking for a handgun that is more concealable. Could you give me your opinion? Bellow are some criteria.

*low profile
*double action (or some mechanism by which there is no safety to switch)
*accurate enough to consistently hit a cantaloupe at 25 yards
*a reputation for reliability
*powerful for its size, preferably .45 or .40

below is my idea. But I don't know everything about handguns. Please advise

I have never shot 1 of those, buT I hear it is an awesome gun. It is expensive. And, I've also heard that it isn't a gun U can spend all day shootin. Apparently, the gas system clogs up and U must clean it.

I like the P99 compact with the A/S trigger.

Here is mine - had the slide hard chromed.

Mine is in 9mm. I have heard that the 40 version isn't pleasant to shoot. I'd stick with it in 9mm, if I were U.

U may wanna look at a Glock 27 as well.

thanks for the advice. Do you know anything about the Walther P5? Would it be accurate enough. Are they available?
Man, those are sweet. I'd love to have a P5. Yes, they are accurate.

They are no longer made, however. U can find used ones. And, occassionally, U can find a new one if U are willing to pay as much for it as that HK costs, if not more.

Someone online bought a new one from Earl's Repair Service recently. He is very expensive, though. he would be able to do any repairs and get ya any spare parts U need. But, as they are out of production, if U did find a nice one, I'd be hesitant to carry such a nice, rare gun, if it were me.

Walther is coming out with a polymer version of the PPK called the PPS later this year. It will be 9mm, and look like a cross between a P99 and a Glock - except it will be single stack. There are pics of it at the Handgun Forum in the Walther section or at the Walther Forum. New guns always take a while, however, so it may be the end of this year before it comes out.

Since I have a P99 compact, I'm not really worried about aquiring one, though...
Wow, that PPS is just what I'm looking for. Ugly though. But thin and short. Amazing really. How much do you think it will be going for Ship?
No one is sure - the european price is listed at some places - and if translated to US dollars, it would be very expensive. But, if they price it too high, I don't see it selling at all here. I would imagine that realistically, once it gets here, it shouldn't be prices any more than a P99.
I have fired those before, my friend owns one. They are expensive and no longer in production.
Why don't you look at one of the mini glocks, or the new smaller springfield XD
Well, I had a Glock 26 for 8 years, but I never really cared much for the Glock trigger. I much prefer the P99c :)
Single stack, that size. There isn't much out there....
I think you were on the right track with the P7, the 40 is too expensive and not as slim, but the P7M8 or the HK P7 PSP are both concidered the ultimate carry gun in 9mm. No safty to fumble with, yet 100% safe to carry. Very slim with a single action striker trigger. You can get these around $1000-$1400, but they are well worth it.

I've always wanted to try one of these. Before I drop that much cash, I'd have to try 1 first...
definitely has a cool factor. The upcoming PPS is going to be smaller though.
There was a time when I would just get both. But I don't want a lot of handguns. Just two that I am very familiar with.
i carry a kahr p45

4" slide single stack holds 6 rds of .45 shoots good not to much kick i have a 990.00 kimber i had so many problems with it i said if i'am going to care a gun it must work and the kahr does 400 rds and no problems only bad thing is it is so new there is not a lot of holster out there for it

I had actually two of those HK P7, my first one was the original P7 PSP with the rear bottom of the grip mag release and when the P7M8 came out with new mag release lever behind the trigger, also insulated trigger guard and better sights, I sold my old pistol and got the new model.

P7 are very accurate because of it's fixed barrel to the frame design and very easy to cock the grip cocking lever.

It have a special feature that only some owners know which is when you're reloading a mag and want it to fire as soon as the slide closed, just hold the trigger while squeezing the grip and it will fire instantly when the slide hits home.

The only thing I don't like about them is the weight, it's all steel and also when using lead bullets it's a PITA to clean the gas system.

I sold my P7M8 a few years ago and I just use my G19 now.
Is there an offical walther pps page wtih more info? Love my PPK's and this is the first I've hear of this. Too bad they won't make one for the 5.7 round! That would be the crap!
I don't think there is an "official" page, but U can check out the Walther Forum...

The PPS looks like it was lifted from the Glock guns! Looks just like Glock disassembly to me. Push, Pull and done. Disappointed that it doesn't even look like a PPK. PPK/S are CLASSIC! I'm thinking I'll pass on that unless they do a 5-7 cartridge. 9mm would be fun if they sold 30 rnd. extended mags so you could have some fun, or else you’ll be buying 10+ mags at Walther prices! OUCH! And have a VERY sore reload thumb! Love Walther but I think I'm pass on this one.

I have to go I think I hear a 5-7 calling me!
