I've recently taken an interest in them, I actually like the new style frame now. I've been looking at subcompacts, and just now thought about the P99c with the anti-stress trigger? What can you tell me about the P99, my experience is very limited. I do remember liking the trigger, but I've never fired one.

Well, I got into it in detail on this thread:

http://fnforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=4109&highlight=p99

But as U have seen me rattle on and on about the P99 A/S in 9mm - the fullsize version is my alltime fav gun.

The compact is nice, and makes a great carry gun. I don't shoot it quite as well at the range as I do my fullsize P99. But, I think that is usually true of most subcompacts versus the fullsize versions...

I carried a Glock 26 for 8 years, but really didn't like it. I hated the trigger, and no matter how much I practiced with Glocks I have owned, I always shot low and left because of the horrible Glock trigger (except for the G34 - which comes with a lighter trigger stock). Anyway, in 2005, when I docovered that the P99 had a similar tennifer finish - I sold my G26 and bought me my P99c A/S.

The single action pull of the A/S is very nice. I even hard chromed my slide, so its now holster wear proof.

Great gun! Only neg I can say is that it has slightly more recoil than a G26. Not much more - just a tad more.

A week or so ago when I was in the local shop, a guy came in with his P99c in 9mm. I remarked about preferring the old style frame, but he let me hold it. I remember how there was a loose slide to frame fit that I wasn't expecting, but the entire pistol felt very solid in the hands, despite the short girp (no magazine, I'm sure the extensions are perfect in the hand).

I recall once before that somebody had the old stlye in .40, I think it was a pre-AS. I really liked the trigger on it, and could see one on the compact.

I've been looking for a subcompact, but something large enough to a main carry piece. The Glock 26 and the M&Pc were my main considerations, but I don't really care for the triggers on either. The P99s trigger is as good as a striker fired trigger gets IMO.

In terms of innovation, I've always thought the P99 was the polymer to beat second to the VP70 of course.

Well, on the P99s and on many other polymer guns - once a loaded mag is put into the gun - then there is no (or very little) slide play any longer.

I personally like the newer frames and redesigned slide serrations over the old frames. I could have gotten an older framed fullsize P99 - but passed.

Is the barrel on the compact much shorter than the full size? It doesn't appear to be so, at least not by much in photos. Have you got any pics so I can see what size it is in relation to other pistols? I had very limited expericence with it last time.

Either an Uncle Mike's "Inside the Waist" holster - that I put the gun in and put that in my front cargo pants pocket (the clip on it sticks up and helps break up the outline of the gun) -

Or, a Bianchi 7L leather beelt holster - it is for the fullsize model - but works great for the compact - since most holsters have the muzzle sticking out the end anyway.

You can also get a Galco Fletch and a Miami Classic shoulder holster for the P99.

I'm thinking the P99c AS 9mm is going to make a great b-day present for myself this year. I'll have to make sure to get a good, dedicated holster for the pistol. I'll definitely post a review/pics when I get one. And on that day, you can put another notch in the belt for P99 converts.
