Oh well, being 46 and done is worth it and I still have a few buds who will let me use their stuff if it's to specialized.
I miss the access to all the machines since I retired. I never bought a special tool in my life up until now.It works well, just have to shim a bit (I used cardboard and tape). Kind of wish the XL was available when I ordered mine, but oh well. Might be able to have a buddy machine a taller blade.
I like that it will work on more than one make of gun. My first sight pusher, a MGW, cost me about $100 and it is only good for the SIG. Works fine but expensive. It works well, just have to shim a bit (I used cardboard and tape). Kind of wish the XL was available when I ordered mine, but oh well. I just emailed them to see if the XL will work on my new Sig Sauer P320C, trying to locate either a B&J Machine P500 Pro or MGW Sight Pro is tantamount to turning dirt into precious gems, it ain't hapn'in and I started this sight pusher quest over a year ago....WTH!?!
That thing looks like it would be extremely easy to make. Assuming you have access to a couple shop tools. Basically it is just a piece of cut off square steel tubing, nuts/bolts/washers and a appropriately sized blocks. Hell if I knew the ID size of that square tube, I could easily scale the rest.
Looking at it now. I bet square steel tube stock if relatively cheap. That would be the ONLY thing I wouldnt have readily available. I guess the only thing would be if it is legal for me to make a tool for personal use based on observations of one that it patiented.
Actually, I believe it is infringement to even make one. At least according to the completely reliable source of info known as wiki. But I am no patent lawyer.Yes, it would be legal for you to make an identical copy for your own personal usage, as soon as you attempt to market or sell you'll end up in trouble. The only thing here, you'd need access to one which means you'd already have one.

Also, it would be no problem to duplicate it "nearly" identicle simply by looking at a picture and scaling it. Only thing needed is a starting dimension. Lets say I assume the Internal Dimension of the square tube stock is 4". Scaling the placement of the two large bolts is simple. Then simply fill in the remaining sizes for blocks. Now take those dimensions and see if they will work, ie line up, with my sights and if not make some adjustments. That would tell me if I maybe need to start with 3.5" ID square tube to start. Its easily a few hours work.
Or quicker yet, just start with whatever size I want and SET the placement and dimensions to what I need. That still doesnt get me past the Legal aspect of duplicating patented hardware at work. They tend to frown on it and I am not dumb enough to risk my job for something that I can buy by working less hours than it would take me to make anyways.
The manufacturer doesn't have any???B&J Machine P500 Pro
The manufacturer doesn't have any???
Well that is a shame! After reading this thread and checking them out, they seemed reasonably priced and looked well made. I guess I won't get it after all. Thanks for posting that update. You saved me a headache!
You'll love the P500. I have changed the sights (front and rear) on Glocks, Sig P226, P320, FNX 45, multiple 1911's, and it works like a champ. Very well built and solid unit. Good luck finding one. Guess I got lucky when I got mine a little while ago from Brownells.Yeah Donnie don't waste your money. It actually is very well made and inexpensive but unless they come up with something to secure the slide and keep if from twisting when working front sights it's a bust. For rear sights only aka Glock's it's an absolute winner no doubt. I'm going to have to call B & J Machine tomorrow and get a P500 Pro, it like no other sight tool I know of REALLY clamps the slide down and keeps it from moving. The XL is already at the USPS awaiting its journey back to California.......good riddance! :?

Yeah call B&J Machine directly at : 215-632-2117 . They sell direct to the public. The P500 Pro is $275 + $10 shipping. It works great with every semi auto I've ever tried it on. Midway also has them in stock this week....
