Gas operated......hmmmm. Wonder if this helps with the brass shoulder lengthening/deforming that we see in all the blowback guns? If the fired cases come out without the lengthening it might be a great gun for the 5.7 reloader. Buffman....when do you get your test copy??

I would like to see some more detail on how that gas system works, and how often it needs to be cleaned to be reliable. As an avid 5.7x28 reloader, the thought of having the shoulders not move each firing will help with not only the resizing process, but also the trimming process is what dreams are made of. Will wait to see some reviews of this new barrel system before adding one to my safe.

Smith kinda caught me off guard with this one. I was not expecting to see it at all. But then again, I'd kinda given up on the idea of a 10mm M&P (and anything 10mm from FN). I don't reload 5.7 at this point, so I didn't even think about the layout from that perspective. Will I ever get one? Dunno. As much as I'd like a regular Five-Seven in the collection, they're still a bit out of my price range.

I'm gate kept in the community. I don't have flashy marketing lusted video. CMMG is the only company who has ever sought me out when they released their 5.7 gun to ask me to review it..

I have a Ruger 5.7. fun little round to shoot but the killer is the price of ammo for it. makes it a very occasional shooter. You're going to spend close to 100 bucks shooting two boxes of the cheap federal ammo.

So I have the FN 5.7 x 28. A while back I had no experience loading with it. I ran a Q/L for it. Spoiler alert it does not work!
Anyway simulation said xx grains of Lilgun would push a 40 gr V-max to 2K fps! Long story short I tried it and the neck separated and stayed in the chamber! In the FN I got neck separation because the case is not sealing and staying in the chamber long enough due to blowback design.

Would the new gas operated smith with the locking/rotating barrel be better suited to slower powders for better performance due to the delay in unlocking?
A good analogy would be the 10/22 mag being chambered for the 17 HMR---did not work out because the action opened before the power charge of LIL gun was completely burned. Savage solved this with the Savage A-17 with the delayed action opening patent.

Am I correct in my thinking or off completely?
