A new Scar 17S owner,just was at my LGS and put 1/2 down on a FDE the only issue is his suppliers are out of The FDE but the have black and I want something differant then the FNAR and the AR10 in black.
I never thought about a scar until I found this forum lurked for a few months and joined when I got my FNAR to go with the AR10 and started reading about this 17S and the more I read and looked at reviews upon reviews I couldn't get it out of my mind so today I went to town and did the deal now it's a waiting game.
I don't know if I will go with a T1 and a 3x magnifier or something like a Viper 4-12x44 on it but that will come in time for right now I need to get it in my hands and let it know it's in a good home and shoot it with open sights till I find what should be mounted on top.

Have you thought about hard anodizing? I'm looking into it, and found that it will be 300 to 400 for the camp pattern I want on my SCAR

So what mags do you all like, the 10 rounders or 20, it comes with a 20 but think the 10s would be better for bench or maybe not. What do you all like?

My thoughts were to get 2 10s and 1 20 but if the consensus was that 10s were better I would just get 4 10s, just figuring things out while I wait.

Congratulations I am in the same boat as you. Just waiting till I can pick up my SCAR. There are times when I buy something and have slight remorse, new washer, water heater, AR parts and think hmm maybe there was a better something or maybe I overpaid.
With the SCAR I had no such feeling, I know this thing is going to be great and worth every penny.

I've picked a sight and mount for it as a starting point it's a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 moa target turrets with a Vortex one piece mount 2" offset, this should get me going without breaking the bank on a sight.
The 17s FDE can not get here soon enough..

Man I feel for ya! I'd originally ordered my 17s FDE back on 4/3 from an online retailer. After waiting almost 3 weeks, I was told it was on back order with no specified date of receipt. Needless to say I was less than pleased; I requested a refund and ordered elsewhere. Just picked it up from my FFL yesterday, and I'm working on getting her all gussied up. The wait was certainly frustrating, but trust me... as soon as you shoulder that beaut, you'll know it was well worth the wait! :icon_e_biggrin:

Thats lame its not 2010 anymore. FDE is not uncommon anymore. Its probably mkre like his margin is less from everyone that has FDEs in stock. Anywah sorry about the wait. You'll be so happy when it shows up.

I too just knew i had to have a 17s after watching a few videos, lurking here, reading reviews and looking at a ton on Google images. I put mine on layaway and had payed like 1k on it before ever even holding one in person. For like 1 nanosecond i thought to myself "oh no, this thing feels like a toy, what did i do?!" Lol that thought went away really fast as i shouldered it and racked the charging handle lol.
