I came across the SPR/model 70 action that CDNN has listed for $299... I am looking to build a precision rifle in 260 rem, and this looks like it might be a good foundation.
My main question: Will this action accept barrels and stocks made for a model 70?

Anyone else here build a rifle from this action from CDNN? I do a lot of multi-gun competitions, and I need a new bolt gun. Opinions welcome!

not sure, but an interesting thought. I would be interested in that for the 260's ballistics compared to a .308

Exactly! There is a lot to love about the 260 rem, especially for long-range tactical style competition. Compared to .308, you get an extra 200-400 meters of effective range, almost 100" less drop at 1k meters, less recoil, and some serious wind bucking abilities. Hard to complain!

So, can anyone help me make this monster?

Craigar;

Give Bob Hart a call. He has built three for me and one I love with a model 70 action in 30-338. These guys are real rifle builders. They will build to any spec anything from just a barrel installation to a complete finished rifle. True craftsmanship.

Best of luck to ya

I just got into prescion shooting, but at a match last week I found a guy shooting a Win 70 pre '64 in a 6mm BR round. I have almost no info on the BR round but he said he only needed the correct barrel because the cartridge could be worked by the action. just throwing it out there.

heres some info on the round:
