Hey all, hope everyone is doing well out there. If anyone cares, I spoke to the folks at FN today at an expo and was advised that the SS198LF will be shipping at the beginning of March. It will be LE sales only, but not restriceted like the tracer & AP stuff. The LE officer just needs to show department ID and you're good to go (individual officer sales). The projectile is the same as the 195 (28 Gr.) and should be clocking the same velocity & pressure as the 190. He said about 2300 from the pistol. As far as the SCAR goes, he said the light version will be out by this summer and the heavy version is expected to be available at the end of this year. Price range on the light model will be between 1500 - 2000. If this info was already put out, sorry 'bout that.

MrN,

I was told FN would be shipping the 198 to LE distributors for sales to LE personnel. The 198 has no legal (state or federal) restrictions, however, FN (corporate) wishes to keep it restricted to LE personnel. The difference is with the 190 stuff, the agency must order it for the department, with ATFE paperwork, the 198 can be purchased by any LE officer merely presenting his / her ID card. So, in answering your question, I guess you could fax your ID card to an internet ammo sales company and get it. I hope it's that simple. As far as ballistics, FN said it would rival the 190 in FPS... Hope that helps.
