It may not be as quiet as DI but am sure that it will be better than not. I noticed that Silincershop is selling Custom Rifle Dynamics AK/Omega combinations for $3700. For that kind of scratch I figure that has to be something to suppressing an AK.
Does the saker fit the bill?Yes if the barrel is good and the threads are cut right it "shouldn't" be an issue. However will say from having shot one that although they are louder than other hosts but not tremendously. You can do some things to tune the AK to make it a little better. I would recommend using a silencer with a larger bore size just to be on the safe side. Since there is a lot of flex in the receiver a larger bore size helps decrease the risk of end cap strikes.
1/2X28? I thought .30 cal threads were 5/8X24?I own a couple 7.62x39 VEPRs and have been thinking about doing this as well. I own AAC cans and figured why not run them on my AKs as well. The problem was trying to get my SDN6 on a 14x1LH threaded vepr barrel. AAC recommends rethreading your barrel so it will accept the 1/2"-28 51T blackout Flash Hider. I did some research but I couldn't find anything that says if a VEPR barrel profile will accept this rethreading. In any event, I also want to shorten my barrel from 16" to ~14.5" and pin/weld the FH. I talked to a smith and he quoted me $250 to remove the barrel, cut it down, rethread, pin/weld FH, then re-attach barrel to the receiver. Seems like a fair price just haven't got around to dropping my vepr off yet. AAC used to have a blog post that outlined this process but the link I have doesn't seem to work anymore. Heres an article that eludes to that process. How to Screw Up a Perfectly Good AK - The Truth About Guns
