Suspect Says He Shot Off AK-47 to Protect Dog From Raccoons

A 22-year-old Suquamish man who said he was protecting his pit bull from raccoons was arrested Thursday on suspicion of reckless endangerment. The suspect allegedly shot an AK-47 rifle at the ground off his back porch.

Kitsap County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a male and female screaming at the man's home on the 6000 block of Fir Street. On arrival at 8:30 a.m., the officers questioned the suspect and a 35-year-old female, who were on the porch of the house.

The female said she had been sleeping and knew nothing of the incident. The suspect said he had heard noises in the backyard. He looked outside to find raccoons attacking his dog. He admitted to shooting the AK-47 but said he only fired four or five shots into the ground to scare them away.

Officers found the rifle in the master bedroom closet, along with a .30-06 rifle. They also observed a tan pit bull on the deck.

Two children, an infant and child of unidentified age, were in the home.

When the officer asked the suspect why he didn't bring the dog inside to protect it from the raccoons, he answered that the dog would tear up the house, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office report states.

When officers asked about the reports of screaming, the suspect said he was on the telephone with his mother-in-law.

The suspect was booked into the Kitsap County jail. Bail was posted at $5,000.

That's believable. But as for the rest, I'll have to agree with devildoc. My old lab mix used to kill families of opossums when they went into his pen. That pitbull would only be in trouble if there were 20+ racoons.

I would be Squeanish about being near the house with the pansy pit bull that only attacks his own family, the Einstien who shoots into the ground when he hears possums and squirrels tip-toeing around his yard, and moma-in-law Susan Estrich .
Can anyone spell M-E-T-H?
