Think I've made an MP5/HK94 decision

I have been all over the place on this one. I want an MP5/ HK94. ("Now I have a machine-gun, HO, HO, HO" in Hans Gruber's voice.)

I almost had a deal on an sp89. Got up to 5k and started haggling over $500. Decided that I wasn't too keen on 5k for a gun I'd feel bad shooting. So I withdrew my offer. Saw the POF deal. Tough to beat for 1500, but the snob in me didn't want a Paki gun. Looked at Dakota, but decided that they are knocking on the door of HK prices, so I'd be in the same boat as if I'd bought a real HK. I had it down to DJ Getz and Turner. Both have great reviews, but Dave seems to have legendary CS. I emailed him with questions. He responded in 15 minutes.

I read his forum where he details what he does for each gun. I can't imagine how he makes money, because it appears like each one is given a custom level of detail work. At about $2200, it's hardly cheap, but it looks like HK function, reliability and accuracy for a fraction of the price. Plus I won't mind putting 1000's of rounds through it. I want a shooter. I spared no expense on my UMP build, but I don't mind a non German parts kit MP5. Looking at the 94FS with A2 stock. File my form 1 and lose the faux can.

Anyone have any input before I pull the trigger?

I'm all in favor of you getting one and being the forum field tester. I don't regret getting rid of most of the guns I no longer own, but I do wish I had my 94 back.

I feel ya, man. Ever since sarge posted that thread with the POFs--I gotta major chubby for the POF. If you like nicely finished guns, you'll have to refinish the POF. I don't have one yet, but I can't get one out of my mind. The problem is getting one. Not coming in in great quantity, right now. If you want a sear host, it's probably not significant to you but the POF does have a "push pin" (which I think you'd have to delete like the others to remain in compliance with the law.) POF is a licensed manufacturer of HK firearms and uses HK tooling and machines--it's about as close as your going to get.

If anything I could say-- get paki gun. Same as hk, just different stamp. Mac has a video on it-- I would go that route and spend extra cash to jazz it up. U could easily get a 3 lug mount and can for remaining cash too.

When you 1st get it, strip it, wash frame it in hot soapy (Pomolive) water throughly get all oil and crud out. Strip grip frame take pack out, same wash.. Let dry throughly.. I did not touch with bare hands after..

Oven, regular oven, 350 1.5hrs.. Goes a long way..

Show off.

But, of course, I'd do the same.

I'd be also interested in a POF 5 9mm, but can't find them for sale anywhere.

Alternatively you can just wait for Sig's MPX.

I guess I'm a bit of an HK snob. I don't own a ton of guns but whenever I am asked which my favorite is I can never come up with an answer. So to that merit I personally went with a LNIB HK SP89, that actually came with the original box from HK with the label still on it. It looked like if 100 rounds were put through it I'd be surprised. I SBR'd it, had a paddle mag release and 3 lug barrel installed so I could use my Octane 9. I personally felt if i'm going to spend $2,500 + on a clone might as well do it right the first time. I don't put 1K's of rounds through it in a single trip to the range but they are guns and they are meant to be used so I don't hesitate for a second to take it the range and shoot it either. Of course not everyone has $5k laying around but for me it was worth every penny of it for something I'll keep for the rest of my life. Gun Air gun Machine gun Airsoft gun Airsoft

Awesome set up! I'd love the real deal, but I know I'd feel bad shooting my "investment ". I love my ump and have even done a class with it. But there is just something different with the 94. Some intangible reason I guess.

If you have not made a decision yet, you cannot go wrong with DJ Getz. You are supporting an American worker who makes a great product and will give you personal service if you ever have a problem or need anything. I bought a pdw model from Dave 2 years ago, had a feeding issue with hollowpoints, and Dave went out of his way to make it run with the ammo. I have a Vector full size mp5 clone as well, and if I had to do THAT decision over, I would gladly pay more to have the fit and finish Dave puts into his creations

What's the best way to contact DJ Getz for his products? It doesn't look like he has a website and I tried to PM him on the HK forum, but no joy there. Does he have a business email address that y'all are privy to?

I want to buy one like the two on the right. How do I go about this? Buy the pistol and do the tax stamp to convert it to a rifle, then buy the stock? Also, would the stamp be a Form 1? The two SBRs on the right appear to have shorter barrels and a different molded foregrip w/a vertical grip, are these pistols available with a these shorter barrels and where do you purchase the foregrip and stock? Thanks
