Hey guys,

i installed a Timney trigger in my Scar about two weeks ago and finally got a chance to try it out. It was brilliant absolutely night and day better than the stock trigger.

On rapid fire a couple of times the gun shot two or three round bursts. I was wearing a looser shirt and had the stock a little short because I like a shorter length of pull. I wonder if this is an issue with the trigger or a bump/bump off shoulder fire? It was M16 fast and I couldn't get it to consistently replicate the issue. The last thing I want is an unsafe or illegal gun.

i pulled the stock all the way out and it completely stopped doing anything but semi.

anyone else ever have an issue like this? I've fired a slide fire in a AR and it wasn't as fast that's why I'm concerned.

Were you squeezing the trigger lightly as opposed to a heavy finger???

IF your light on the trigger, normal recoil can cause "bumpfire." I have had this happen a couple times with my two stage match grade AR 4.5 lb trigger. But if I make sure when it breaks and fires, that I have my finger go rearward, it doesn't happen.

Now if you are sure that you were not light on the trigger, take it out and call Timney right away. Have them take care of it.

Probably a bump fire situation. I've had that occur with the SCAR 17 running a Geissele when I held it to limply on a bi-pod. Try puling the trigger all the way back and holding for each shot waiting a couple second before you reset the trigger. Then if it doesn't happen again you probably bump fired it.

Same I have a timney on my 2 AR's I built and my scar 17. I've had that happen on all of my rifles but if I pull it and hold it back with more force it won't do it so it's always been a bump fire situation when I put very little pressure on the trigger.

Thanks for the info, I am usually light on the trigger. It is insane how fast I can fire the gun with this trigger. My brother bought a colt M4 and I can unload a full mag in half the time he can and we both have fast trigger fingers. Probably just a few seconds.

What was really wild was that I have learned how to get the gun to fire three round bursts with the bump fire technique (Is this bad for the trigger?) My buddy took a slow mo video of me shooting and the spent shell casings are only about three inches apart when flying through the air.

At first this scared me because I didn't want anything illegal, but I didn't modify the trigger or anything. The gun is insanely accurate when shooting slowly.
