Well guys my Gen 2 Tri-Rail has really been in need of a twin SBR PS90 so I've been on the hunt for a second PS90 and came across a great deal on a Brand new in the box never been fired Gen 1 PS90. Gun also has a low serial #FN037xxx. Well the minute I picked it up I filed for my tax stamp to get the wait started. Now I'm wondering if I messed up?!?!

Should I stick this new Gen 1 in the safe or SBR it and have fun?

Also since I've already filed for my stamp can I transfer to another PS90 I pick up or did I just throw $200 out the window of I decide to make it a safe queen?

I say go ahead and SBR it and have fun. Of course I never got the whole draw of the gen1/2 thing. Get a newer trigger pack to put in there if it means anything to you.

You can cancel the stamp process at any time until it is actually issued. You can not change the paperwork once it was filed IIRC for a serial number. You will have to withdraw the application and submit a new one. There are some issues that you can correct but I do not think that changing the serial number is one of them. I forgot to add the length on a Form 4 for a silencer so they let me correct the form by inking the length in then initializing the change. But the receiver serial number is a no go I believe. I could be wrong though as I have been in the past and I know that I am not perfect so that is OK. Congrats on the Gen 1 PS90. Only you can decide if you want to SBR it or not. I have one Gen 1 PS90 SBR and one Gen 1 PS90 (one has a black pack and one has a gray pack). One is OD the other is Black but I can change the uppers back and forth any time with no problems. One day the SBR is Green, the next is it black.

I have also contemplated doing another SBR. It's another $200 for the stamp plus the barrel and adapter and etc etc etc costs, so it is never just $200.

The Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4 thing is really nothing unless you are preparing for a SHTF scenario. I like to have options even if I will never utilize them.

Forget about colors and think about physical changes to the packs. There are only 4 different packs for the PS90 and color this and color that means absolutely nothing about Generation even though people will say well I have a purple pack with a pink hammer and a orange auto sear, so it is a Gen 1.2.A-C Rev 9B or some such nonsense. If the capabilities are the same as the all black one, then it is the same generation.

Personally I'm not gonna pay much extra for the Gen 1 or Gen 2 guns, but that being said if I'm gonna get one it might as well be a Gen 1-2. Mainly the Gen 1-2's are an investment if I ever decide to sell. That's why I'm wondering if I should molest a Gen 1 but I guess more people could care less about the gun and want the trigger pack. The SHTF scenario is also a plus with them.

Yes, the Gen of the firearm is really a non issue unless it is Tri Rail vs this or that. Tri Rails do command a higher price. It is the pack capabilities that is the draw that people will pay more for if they want the SHTF option. At one time, a forum vendor had (or still has) replacement hammers and auto sears for the packs that did not have the "wanted items" so for awhile, people were able to modify a non desired pack to a desired pack. He also had what he called a short pull hammer (may still have) that reduced the trigger travel by around 30% or so.

It's the trigger pack that makes a gen1/2 desirable. The low SN really don't make a difference. I have a ps90 in your serial range also that I sbrd. I just swapped the pack no regrets from me

SBR it. I don't have a PS90 but I bought a true HK SP-89 for an arm and a leg and felt there is no point in having something sit in a safe unused for the rest of my life so I SBR’d it and It’s so much fun to take out to the range now.. A 4.5lb pistol is less useful then a 16” barrel ps90 but unless you plan on letting it sit in a safe as an investment (hoping it gains in value) then life is too short to not use it for it’s intended purpose and a ps90 begs to have a short barrel if you ask me.

Well guys I think since I have already spent the $200 on my stamp I'm gonna go ahead and SBR it. I will just look for a Gen 3-4 trigger pack so I can keep my Gen 1 pack new. Anybody know where to get a Gen 3-4 trigger pack? I've looked but haven't been able to find anything.

Your Gen 1 pack isn't gonna wear out any time soon. I think I saw that FN rates them for 90k rounds if not more.

Call FN Parts and backorder one. They should be due in shortly IIRC. Check with Midwest Gun Works and be put on the notification list.

I will get some pictures posted up of it soon. I will pull out the 5.7 stuff and get a nice picture of everything. I've also decided I'm gonna pull the trigger on a third PS90. Found a good deal on another Gen 2 Tri-rail I'm gonna pick up next weekend. I will probably leave that one alone though.

Sweet setup Dixie! What case is that???

I've decided I'm just gonna keep with the plans and SBR my Gen 1. Plus I've already made it past two months of the wait on my Form 1 so I don't wanna throw that time or my $200 away.
Good choice, man.

The case looks like the Elite Survival Systems P90 case. I picked one up a few weeks ago and really like it. It's doing double duty as a CZ Scorpion case now.
