Anyone have an opinion of the Tripower or links to recent reviews of it? Everything I've been able to find dates back to 2005/2006.

I've all but made my mind up on picking up a Sig 556 (base model) and want to put a 1x optic of some sort on it and the chevron reticle and lack of battery dependency make the Tripower appealing. Suggestions for others in the sub $600 arena?

I sold mine that was on my XCR. It's a great optic, but if you are shooting paper, move on to something else (unless they started making the tripower with a dot instead of the chevron).

I sold mine. I wasn't impressed. There were situations where the reticle was very hard to see, even at full battery power.

Works fine for me. I don't really use the battery all that much.
Just remember to completely cover the fiber optic light collector if you plan to use the tritium.

I'll elaborate and say that the problem occured whenever I has in deep shade and aiming into a full-sun environment. These conditions occurred sometimes when hunting but never at the range. The reticle showed brilliant and sharp whenever sun was hitting the collector.

I can also say that it has less parallax than an eotech, and the sharp ^ is an awesome chevron.
