Im new to this site and have found this site to be very informative and full of great info! Well Im in the market for my second handgun, I have a Smith and Wesson MP 40 already and am looking to get something in 9mm and my local shop back home in Norfolk doesn't carry FN, so does anyone who is in VA know where I can get my hands on an FNP to try it out or at least hold? Im currently in Radford VA, which is right next to Blacksburg and not to far from Roanoke. Thanks for any help you all can give me!

If you have any chain stores around you see if they have a Browning Pro-9 or Pro-40 on the shelves. They are the same thing. The only difference is the Browning has a manual safety for cocked and locked carry. And unfortunately comes with a higher price tag too. But you can at least get the idea for the feel.

well I am happy to report some good news I happened to come across a store that had 2 FNP's in stock both with stainless slides one in 9mm and one in 40 sw I went there with my roommate with intentions on looking at the fnp, glock 19 and sig 229 and the fnp was the first I held and I liked the way it felt so much I walked out of there with the 9mm and my roommate put the 40 on layaway :D and Im going to the range to shoot it for the first time tomorrow!! Thanks to this web site for all the good info I dont regret my decision one bit!

Hey, great!!!

The gun should work 100%. If it doesn't however, I have heard that U just need to break iin the recoil spring. Some people who have had issues kept the slide back for about 2 weeks, and then went back to the range. Gun then worked 100% after that.

You shouldn't have any issues - but if ya do, try that first before worrying about sending it in!

Hey, Jim.

Did you go to A&P Arms in Va Beach, VA ? That is where I bought my FNP 40 a few years back. Good price for a very good pistol. Been through well over 1000 rounds, no malfunctions yet. It is definitely a keeper.

Great choice! I really like mine and have left off carrying my Glocks, XDs etc lately in favor of it. I DO have hopes it'll gain in popularity for more A.M. products, like sights and brand-specific holsters. But not before I get a few more.. lol, while the price is still unequal to its value! ;)

no actually I have never been to that shop, I have always gone to bobs in Norfolk but I have heard good things about A&P, Ill have to check them out when I get home. I live in Chesapeake but I am a senior at Radford University up in the mountains. I piked up my FNP 9 at a local shop for a good deal. Where do you usually shoot at?

I go to Bob's range generally. A&P's range to get on paper with scopes on rifles and pattern shotguns. I also go to some farm land, that my brother in law has access to, for long range shooting. I live in the hell hole P-Town.

My only "gripe"

about my FNP9 is trying to squeeze the 16th round into the magazines when I first got it. I had one ftf probably due to not locking out the wrist. For a 9MM carry gun, I like it; my only problem off-duty is figuring out which gun to actually carry!

Yeah I usually go to bobs to...only because when I bought my Smith M&P there they gave me a years worth of range access which they do for every hand gun purchase there. I used to go to that outdoor range out in pungo but their prices have gone up...oh well I need to check out a&p sometime
