Posted above is a link to a solicitation recently given by the US Secret Service for a 5.56mm, piston operated carbine. There's a list with 61 requirements that went with this solicitation. It calls for a minimum of 30 rifles with a potential maximum of 50 rifles.

Here's a link to a list of the 61 requirements:

I know LWRC is submitting samples and I'm pretty sure HK is as well. It will be interesting to see how the two carbines stack up against one another. I don't know if they intend on replacing their P90's with these carbines, but I figured you guys might find this interesting.

Well, the P90s are not in widespread use ( i had heard that only the guys at the Whitehouse use them) - so yea. Who knows if they want to replace them, or if they want them for other uses.

Interesting post, after reading the 61 requirements listed, it looks like they took a existing weapon they wanted and wrote a the requirements that mandate its selection.

I have not read the 61 requirements, but I would like to see an American company get a contract, like Magpul.

Not really on the subject but since the Secret Service was brought up it gets me that while certain national leaders and/or candidates would like us to get rid of our means of defense they go around surrounded by an army of agents armed with the latest weaponry.
