My wife(!) decided that we should take up shooting. I had a Marlin .22 as a boy (who didn't?) but haven't had a firearm since then. After spending $200 testing different pistols at a local range over three weeks, we bought an FNP-9 two weeks ago. It shoots very nicely. Just for fun, I thought you'd like to see our list of pistols we tried: Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 26, S&W M&P9C (our favorite compact and probably the next purchase), S&W M&P 9, CZ 75 B (my second choice), Springfield XD9, Springfield XD9C, Springfield EMP (nice gun, but out of our price range), a S&W .357 revolver (big one -- 8-shot), a Taurus 5-shot .38, and a little hammerless .38 Special S&W. Sorry I didn't catch the model numbers of the revolvers, but there was a lot of shooting going on.
Anyway, bought the FN because it shot as well as any of the 4-inch guns we tried, it felt good to both of us, it was from FN, it has a nice soft recoil, and it was cheaper at that time, especially with the shooter's package promo.
Looking forward to enjoying our new hobby. We already picked up a really nice used Wingmaster 20 gauge, but I think we need an 18-inch 12-gauge and that Smith M&PC. Maybe a CZ and a .22 pistol, too. Or ...
