Weird F'N Pistol...New Kel-tec P50

So, when these were announced I was mostly shrugs. But like mold...it grew on me. I finally found one at a not completely stupid price. Stars aligned and all that crap.

I've never gone down the Kel-tec road before, so I hope this wasn't a big mistake. But the reviews I've read/watched have been pretty positive, so here we go.

Plus I figured with ammo cost and availability it was a good time to add another 5.7 mouth to feed. That is, of course, a joke. But what the hell, I make dumb decisions all the time...what's one more?

I'll get to shooting next week sometime. It's light. The sights are tiny, but I have an Aimpoint knock-off that I can throw on there. Dry firing the trigger doesn't feel all that bad. It came with Pro-Mags...so I can finally say I own one now, two, actually. I have plenty of real FN mags to fall back on, so no worries there.

Congrats. I prob would have waited for gen 3-5 but it’s hard sometimes lol.
Check for a feed ramp on the barrel. If it doesn't have one, and it has polished guide rods it's likely already gen 2-3. Mine has been repaired 2 times from KT :O This gun's MAJOR drawback is that it's direct blowback. It's hard on brass. Originally the cases were being stretched with NO shoulder movement. Primers were flatter than my coffee table. I am not sure what they've done, but shoulders are now moving, and primers are better shape. I wonder if the guide rods added mass to the system. I think they need a heavier hammer to delay it somewhat.

I don't reload, so I'm not too worried about the brass. But still, now I have that "what have I done" feeling.

I'm getting old and impatient. But you're right. Live and learn...although I never seem to get that last part right.
I would definitely keep an eye on the brass, as it's a potential SAFETY issue firing the gun. IE KB if you break a neck off and the next round gets loaded, and the hammer drops ;)

If the cases are elongated but the shoulder isn't moving, that's a potential for a brass failure. Make sure you check the primers. If they are flat and the cases ae being stretched, definitely contact them. Those are the original rods. Mine were replaced/updated with machined and polished versions. Is the rear barrel support on yours a 3 screw or 4 screw unit?

First 200 rounds primers were on the right :O

If it's really stuck a 1/4" tap VERY carefully will catch the ID of the brass. Try a brush from the muzzle end first.

Did the brass show anything concerning? I normally never even bother to look at brass, so I'll freely confess ignorance. I pick up what I can, throw it into one of my 15 gallon water jugs and forget it.
To me it looks like it's stretching the brass vs allowing the shoulder to move. Was that AE TMJ or SS197SR? This is the Gold Dot on the repaired/upgraded P50. Notice that the necks do not retain the original shape of the unfired round like yours appear to be:

Here is how it originally shot:

I would definitely send it in. I think I might have been the first KB! with it. They had mine and others for 4 months upgrading them.

I just wouldn't run hot loads out of them because they're straight blow back ;)

Just no crazy hand loads. I'm assuming SS198 and SS192 would be ok?
As long as you have one with the newer bolt carrier group, yes they will be fine..
